If infinity and infinitesimals were the universe's two safeguards, then humanity was now exploring in the direction of the infinitesimal.

But dimensions were not limited to the Microscopic Dimension. In reality, it was inseparable from the Macroscopic Dimension, and together they formed the framework of the entire universe. There was no such thing as a dimension that existed only on the microscopic level. In other words, while humanity was indeed seeing the Microscopic Dimension now, that Microscopic Dimension was certainly connected to the Macroscopic Dimension in some way.

That was why human scientists believed they might be able to grasp and make use of that relationship through some method.

In the past, this would undoubtedly have been dismissed as a mad and impossible theory. But now, no scientist who had experienced using a Consciousness Linking Device to observe the Micro World thought so.

After biotechnology solved the brain's protective mechanisms, they discovered that everything they saw could certainly be explained. Though explaining it was immensely difficult, they saw hope of eventually making sense of it during their observations.

Simply put, after observing for extended periods, they found that their consciousness gradually adapted to the existence of various microscopic structures and could understand some of the phenomena within them.

Of course, the process by which people observed the world was a subjective experience. Thus, so-called "seeing" was itself subjective. The world humanity "saw" was not what the real world actually looked like, but an image materialized for consciousness by the brain based on signals transmitted by photoreceptor cells, combined with its own database of external information accumulated over billions of years of evolution.

That was roughly what those cryptic religious sayings meant, such as "all things are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, shadows, dew, and lightning," as well as the frequent claims
