The next day arrived in the blink of an eye. At school, Eichi sat at his desk, thinking about going to Tokiwa City after class to borrow an Incubator from Aunt Keiko.

Just as he was thinking about it, his deskmate Aji turned toward him. Aji had fiery red hair, thick brows, large eyes, and a somewhat silly-looking smile.

Everyone who met him thought he was an honest person. Of course, he really was an honest person.

But sometimes he could be so sly that he seemed nothing like one. Aji turned around and asked, "Eichi, didn't you go catch your first Pokémon yesterday? Did you catch one? What Pokémon was it?"

Eichi said, "No, but I picked up a Pokémon Egg."

Aji said in surprise, "A Pokémon Egg? You're so lucky! Do you know what Pokémon is inside?"

Eichi said, "How could I possibly know? You can only find out what Pokémon it is after it hatches."

Aji suddenly understood. "Oh, right."

Then he asked again, "Eichi, I got my first Pokémon yesterday too. Do you know what Pokémon it is?"

Eichi glanced at Aji's eager-to-show-off expression and answered, "No."

Aji said happily, "It's a Mankey."

Mankey, the Pig Monkey Pokémon.

Its Abilities were Guts and Anger Point.

Hidden Ability: Defiant.

It was a Fighting-type, and its Evolved Form was Primeape.

It was a very good starter Pokémon. Aji's father had once been an apprentice at a Fighting Gym, but after being eliminated for lacking talent, he returned to Tokiwa Town.

He became the foreman of a construction crew, and his family was much better off than Eichi's.

Aji's starter Pokémon, Mankey, was probably descended from his father's Primeape.

After enduring until class was over, Eichi hurriedly ran toward Tokiwa City.

About half an hour later, he finally arrived in Tokiwa City and entered the city proper.

After walking for a while, he reached Tokiwa City's commercial district. It was bustling everywhere, and the streets were lined with all kinds of shops.

Many of them sold things humans needed.

To buy things related to Pokémon, he had to go to the Department Store.

As the home of Tokiwa Gym, Tokiwa City was exceptionally prosperous. All sorts of people passed by Eichi.

There were also all kinds of Pokémon. Some people had powerful Pokémon following behind them; one look was enough to tell they were Trainers traveling on a journey.

Some had come to challenge Tokiwa Gym, while others were merely passing through.

But none of that had anything to do with Eichi. Following his memories, he finally found the Breeding House where Aunt Keiko worked.

The Breeding House was located in a relatively quiet area.

Although its name included "House," it was not small at all. It was about the size of a basketball gym, with three floors and a backyard.

The Breeding House was extremely busy. Customers came and went, and many people were inside.

Amid the bustling crowd, Eichi found Aunt Keiko.

Eichi walked into the shop, but no one came to receive him. Everyone was simply too busy.

He saw Aunt Keiko massaging an elegant Persian, with a richly dressed noblewoman standing beside her.

Elegant Pokémon like Persian were beloved by the city's nobles, so he did not disturb her.

Eichi did not interrupt Aunt Keiko and simply wandered around inside.

He could see all kinds of Pokémon here, even Pokémon from other regions.

For example, Eichi had just seen Florges, Snubbull, Glameow...

Even Starter Pokémon were not uncommon here. All of it made Eichi's heart stir.

There was also a back garden behind the building, and Eichi walked into it.

The back garden contained rockeries, trees, dense vegetation, and a river. All kinds of Pokémon rested and played within it.

"My god, whose Dragonite is that?" Eichi was astonished.

Eichi did not approach the Dragonite and merely observed it carefully from afar.

It was his first time seeing a Pseudo-legendary. The Dragonite noticed someone watching it but did not pay him any attention, continuing to sleep.

After finishing his tour, he found a seat near Aunt Keiko and sat down to wait for her to finish working.

Once she was done, Keiko happened to see Eichi and walked over to greet him. "Eichi, what brings you to Auntie's place today?"

Eichi said, "Aunt Keiko, can I borrow an Incubator from you?"

Keiko froze for a moment. "You have a Pokémon Egg that needs hatching?"

Eichi then told Aunt Keiko about picking up the Pokémon Egg yesterday.

Keiko said, "I don't have the authority to lend the shop's Incubators to others."

Eichi became a little flustered when he heard that. "Then what should I do?"

Seeing Eichi's anxious expression, Keiko thought for a moment and said, "How about this? Bring the Pokémon Egg to the Breeding House, and Auntie will help you hatch it."

Eichi said excitedly, "Really? Then thank you, Aunt Keiko. I'll go home and bring the Pokémon Egg over right now."

With that, he ran outside. Keiko watched Eichi vanish in an instant and smiled. "He really is impatient."

He rushed home, put the Pokémon Egg into his backpack,

then hurried back again. By the time Eichi returned to the Breeding House, he was drenched in sweat and gasping for breath.

When he saw Aunt Keiko, he took the Pokémon Egg from his backpack and handed it to her.

Aunt Keiko held up the Pokémon Egg and examined it. "Come with me."

Eichi followed Aunt Keiko to a room on the second floor.

As soon as the door opened, Eichi saw rows upon rows of Pokémon Eggs neatly arranged on several machines.

Keiko walked to a square device and pressed something on it.

The machine's transparent cover slowly opened. Keiko placed the Pokémon Egg inside, and the cover slowly closed again.

Eichi curiously watched Aunt Keiko operate the machine from beside her.

After working on the machine for a while, Keiko said to Eichi, "I just checked with the Incubator. This Pokémon Egg may hatch within the next couple of days."

Eichi said happily, "Really? Then Aunt Keiko, can you tell what Pokémon it is?"

Keiko shook her head. "I don't know, but based on my experience, it may be a Bug-type or Grass-type Pokémon."

Eichi toured the Incubation Room for a while longer, then said goodbye to Aunt Keiko and went home.

The next day, as soon as class ended, Eichi hurried to the Breeding House. Seeing him run over covered in sweat,

Aunt Keiko smiled and told Eichi to go take a look in the Incubation Room.

Eichi came to the Incubator and, now familiar with the route, found his Pokémon Egg. He looked it over, but there was still no change, so he took another lap around the Incubation Room.

In the end, he was so bored that he took out the books from his backpack and began reading.

After reading for a while, he suddenly felt something strange in his eyes. Eichi walked over to the machine and placed his hand on its cover.

A faint cyan glow flashed across Eichi's hand and vanished in an instant.

Suddenly, the Pokémon Egg trembled slightly. Eichi thought he might have seen it wrong.

Then the Pokémon Egg began shaking again. Eichi quickly ran downstairs to call Keiko up.

When Aunt Keiko came upstairs and saw the Pokémon Egg shaking, she checked the device beside it.

She said to Eichi, "It's about to hatch."

The moment her words fell, the Pokémon Egg erupted with an intense white light.
