It showed that his daughter's friends were all good people.

That was nothing like those street punks in Queens who had just graduated.
George did not want his daughter making friends with those street punks.
But if he was a doctor...
Then that was perfectly okay!
Just like that.
The two chatted as they walked.
George grew more and more satisfied with Su Yi!
He was just short of outright saying, "You're my chosen future son-in-law!"
The two walked down the street.
Until they came across an Oak Bar.

Not every bar in America was the kind where people danced and shook their heads to loud music.
There were many different kinds of bars here.
For instance, whiskey bars only sold whiskey and iced water.
Oak Bars sold alcohol brewed in oak barrels.
There were all sorts of other bars as well. In short, there were many categories, and you could find one that suited your personality.
The bar the two of them had come across...
Had oak decor throughout. It was fairly quiet inside, with soothing music playing on the radio.
The two entered the bar.
Since George had invited Su Yi out to talk, George paid and ordered the drinks.
"What would you like to drink? Oh, right, can you drink?"
"I can. I just don't drink often. Something lighter would be fine."
"Then we'll have two lighter ones."
After ordering.
Before long, two glasses of brewed liquor were brought over.
But these were not small servings. Su Yi took one look and saw they were the large one-liter mugs.
The kind whose handles had to be gripped with an entire hand.
The two of them raised their mugs and took a taste.
George was pleased once again.
Su Yi had just said he did not drink much.
And in George's eyes, that was exactly right!
A doctor who did not drink much was how it should be!
George nodded in satisfaction, took a sip, and spoke openly.
"To be honest, I was worried that Gwen might have made some bad friends. But from what I've seen just now, I think you're quite impressive."
Su Yi took another sip and replied calmly.
"Mr. George, Gwen is very smart."
"You don't have to think of her as if she were still a child. She has grown up and will have her own ideas. You need to guide her, not keep her on a leash."
Su Yi's words made George's eyes light up.
Just listen to the way he spoke.
Was that something an ordinary person could possibly say?
"Yes, you're right. That's why I haven't stopped her from making friends, but I still need to keep an eye on her so she doesn't make the wrong ones. Of course, I'm not talking about you."
"You know, I'm a police officer. I've seen too much darkness and chaos in society."
"So I pay even more attention to my daughter's safety and future."
Su Yi took another sip and nodded in agreement.
"I think you're right about that."
"A daughter should be raised well, and even more attention should be paid to her character and experience."
"That is the only way for your daughter to become an outstanding woman."
"I imagine you were the one who approved of and supported her going to that Medical Exchange Conference."
After Su Yi finished speaking.
George had just taken a sip, but his heart was filled with shock.
His evaluation of Su Yi rose higher and higher.
It had just shot up by quite a bit!
Su Yi's words made George realize that he was no ordinary person.
An ordinary person, or some green kid, would never have such thoughts or speak that way!
He was a cop!
More than that, he was the police chief!
He had seen, spoken with, and understood far too many people!
But people like Su Yi were extremely rare!
That left George somewhat confused.
Who exactly was Su Yi?
"Yes, that's right." George came back to himself, set down his mug, and said, "I wanted her to meet more people at the conference, people who were even more capable."
At that point.
George did not want to beat around the bush anymore.
He checked the time. It was already nearly eleven at night.
If he did not go back soon, Gwen's mother probably would not let him through the door.
So George simply asked directly.
"By the way, I still don't know your name."
"Yi Su." After saying that, Su Yi smiled at George as though he did not know the answer. "Didn't Gwen tell you?"
"Wait!"
The instant he heard that name.
George's eyes widened as he finally realized.
"Su, the one Gwen mentioned at the dinner table—that was your full name?!"
The instant Su Yi's full name was revealed.
As the police chief, George immediately realized that the "Su" Gwen had mentioned before was Su Yi!
"Damn it, I should have figured it out sooner! That Lizardman incident has had me run ragged!"
George cursed himself internally.
Then, in sudden realization, he asked in shock.
"So your friend is..."
"Stephen Strange." Su Yi finished the last sip in his mug and placed it on the table.
"I rode in his car to the conference that day."
George:!!!
