"What? Mei Terumi from Kirigakure is here, and she specifically asked to see me?" Soji nearly jumped up in shock when he heard the report from the man King Kazahana Sōsetsu had sent to notify him.
"Yes, Lord Snow Emperor!" the man replied respectfully.
"I understand. You may leave first. I need to prepare." After steadying himself, Soji waved the guard away.
Having received his orders, the guard answered and left.
Yet Soji was panicking inside.
Not only was he panicking, but there was even a visibly guilty look on his face.
It felt like a lover had come to his house to make trouble.
"Damn it, why would Mei Terumi come to the Land of Snow to find me at a time like this? There wasn't even any advance notice!" After pacing around the room several times, Soji irritably clawed at his hair.
"Should I just refuse to see her and hide for a while?"
The thought involuntarily surfaced in Soji's mind.
In the end, though, he shook his head and rejected the idea.
If Mei Terumi failed to see him and decided to stay in the Land of Snow for a long time, that would only cause Soji even more trouble!
