"I agree with Cousin Iverios. The kingdom would strike south first." The Blood Moon Count tucked a strand of black hair behind her ear and replied, "Waging war on the Graylight Wasteland would bring only expenses and no gains. For a newly crowned monarch, that would be unwise."
"I don't see it that way." Count Misis closed the book in his hands, looked up at everyone, and said with a smile, "I believe stability is what matters most. A war in the south carries the risk of defeat, but a war against the Graylight Wasteland would certainly be victorious."
Everyone voiced their own opinions, but Velin did not join the discussion.
No matter when the next war began, he would most likely only send a token force. As for himself, he would not take part in it.
As time passed, their discussion grew more animated. They even brought out maps of the kingdom and its neighboring nations and regions, laying them together as they analyzed the pros and cons from every angle.
Before long, the Eagle Marquis, whose interest had been piqued, joined the debate as well and began discussing strategy on paper.
After an unknown amount of time, the Hurricane Count suddenly looked at Velin and asked, "What do you think?"
Hearing that, Velin shrugged. Under the gazes of his elder brother and several elders, he said, "I don't know who the kingdom will wage war against, but I won't personally join either way."
The Hurricane Count smiled helplessly. "That's true. No matter who the next war is against, our families probably won't participate directly."
The Blood Moon Count tapped the table with her fingers and said casually, "Rather than waste time on that, since everyone is here, we should discuss how we ought to deploy troops."
"Very well."
