The Silver Dragon Burke Kingdom did not practice primogeniture. Instead, it used a system similar to that of prince-electors: anyone who reached the Soul Intent rank and bore the surname Salnarda was qualified to run for king of the Silver Dragon Burke Kingdom.
However, for most silver dragons, inheriting the throne was far less tangible than pursuing art and wealth.
Having spent nearly a year in this kingdom dominated by silver dragons, Velin had come to understand this deeply. Of the twenty-one silver dragon electors of the Soul Intent rank, only a few showed any desire for the throne. The rest simply lived however they pleased and had not the slightest interest in becoming king.
Once he had dealt with the initial reform matters in Zeferus Territory, Velin planned to sound out Fenius. If he proved reliable, Velin would pass this information on to him.
In truth, Velin was more inclined toward Aljettah. Unfortunately, that silver dragon was even lazier than he was and was only Mid-Gold. She had shown no improvement at all; whether she could even advance to High-Gold before her father stepped down remained unknown.
Velin drained the wine in his cup, set it down, and went to rest.
Throughout July, Velin constantly inspected and guided construction projects across the region. Zeferus Territory flourished with vitality.
In mid-August, Velin set out for Fenius City with Seraphina.
"Master, the West Wind Knight requests an audience." The head maid of Fenius Castle entered the hall where her master slept. As she looked upon his enormous body, her eyes were filled with reverence.
The sleeping silver dragon opened his draconic eyes, looked at his head maid, transformed, and resumed the appearance of a silver-haired elf.
"Linna, have Velin wait in my study. I'll be there shortly."
"Yes, Master." The head
