Background / History

The Uchiha are a major Konoha clan whose Fire Fan crest symbolizes the military. Its red surface represents both the clan’s Fire Release and the blood shed by enemies and Uchiha members in war. 3

Following Madara’s departure, the clan suffered an internal struggle for leadership. Uchiha Cocoon used Izanagi during the conflict and lost an eye; after Uchiha Chiyuki persuaded him that a clan head must protect members rather than create hatred, he withdrew and recommended Chiken as leader. Cocoon subsequently organized a Konoha-friendly faction to restrain the clan’s hardliners. 223
