Talent: 1,000 Points—A Startling Twist!
He sensed it.
Just as he had expected.
"You've seen this wizardry before?"
Horton noticed Ian's unusual reaction, suspicion coloring his expression.
"Yes, Teacher."
Ian nodded. Faint layers of patterns emerged across his skin, as though fused with his flesh and blood.
"The third layer of the Imprint Body Tempering Method!"
Horton's eyes widened as he recognized it at once. The reason he knew it so clearly was that he, too, had cultivated this wizardry.
Layers of patterns also surfaced over Horton's skin, nearly identical to Ian's.
"Where did you get this?" Horton could not help asking.
"I obtained it from the Silver Moon Lake Family. Qiansi said it came from some ruins."
Ian was somewhat numb by now.
"Perhaps it was fate that made you my student." Horton could not help marveling at the wonder of fate. He looked up at Ian. "You've met Isaac, so you should know that I came from Green Corridor Wizard Academy. But do you know why I came here?"
"This student does not."
Ian shook his head.
"It was because of this body-tempering method!" Horton looked at the Armor Plate.
Ian's face was full of confusion.
Surely a body-tempering method alone was not enough to bring someone here.
"I know what you're thinking. A body-tempering method naturally would not be worth my coming here. But what if I told you that this wizardry came from a wizard academy that was destroyed five hundred years ago? That academy may even have been no weaker than today's Elemental Mysteries. And what if that academy left behind a secret vault, right here in Veridian Forest?"
Horton slowly revealed the reason he had put down roots here.
Gulp.
Ian's throat moved.
If that were true, let alone a first-ring wizard—even a second-ring
