Ian followed the address on the envelope.
It was nowhere near the elemental branches, but in a hilly part of the Academy where several slightly ancient-looking white towers stood.
The area looked abandoned.
His destination was one of those towers: a three-story white Wizard Tower that leaned to one side.
Ian hesitated.
He took out the silver ring and put it on. At once, the space before his eyes rippled like water. "Interesting."
Ian narrowed his eyes and walked in.
Beyond the veil, a room appeared before him. An archway inside led down to a lower level.
Once he had confirmed there was no danger,
Ian walked in slowly.
Beyond the doorway lay a magnificent hall.
Bright light shone from the ceiling, illuminating dark wooden shelves that rose all the way up the walls.
Several broad tables stood in the room. A few scattered Wizards sat in the distance, studying documents.
It all looked perfectly ordinary!
"Ian!"
At the familiar voice, Ian turned.
"Lady Diana."
Ian turned to see Diana. She wore a close-fitting gray robe that revealed startling curves, a far cry from the loose robes she had worn before. "Come on. I'll show you around and explain how things work here, along with the benefits for probationary members," Diana said.
Ian's eyes lit up.
