The airship landed once more.
Ian walked down the gangway and drew a deep breath.
The scorched air filled his nose, carrying that familiar blend of metal and gunsmoke.
"Lord Ian!"
A young alchemist approached and addressed Ian respectfully. "Supervisor Rolf sent me to meet you. This way, please."
Ian was a little surprised.
"All right."
As the alchemist led Ian along, his gaze kept drifting toward the ring on Ian's hand.
A golden ring!
A senior scholar!
And a special supplement from the Academy!
Thinking of the supplement released just yesterday, along with all the news, he understood that Ian was no longer merely an elite member.
Even if he never became a core member, he would undoubtedly become a towering figure in the Academy.
"After you!"
He bent even lower at the waist, his tone growing still more respectful.
The two walked along the road.
They had not even gone fifty meters.
"Lord Ian, you're back."
Before they had taken many steps, a Wizard hurried up to them, looking at Ian with a broad smile.
"Ronnie!"
Ian thought for a moment. This was a Wizard who had once asked him to repair a Witchcraft Artifact. They barely counted as acquaintances.
"It's an honor that you remember me. I'll leave you to your business."
Ronnie hurried out of the way.
Their exchange had attracted quite a few people's attention. As soon as Ian left, someone approached.
"Ronnie, was that Ian... Scholar Ian?"
A Wizard who knew him asked.
Ronnie nodded.
"You actually know someone like him?"
The Wizard froze, regarding Ronnie with newfound respect.
Several nearby Wizards joined the discussion.
"That senior scholar?"
"I read his article. No wonder it got a special supplement. It was worth every penny, packed with substance."
