A New Talent, a Master-Level Meditation Method, Storm Spear Gravely Damaged, and Ian's Chance!
At the Storm Corps.
A First Ring Airship rested on the ground. A great hole gaped in one side, exposing extensive damage within.
Several alchemists were repairing it, Ian among them.
A full three days later.
The repairs were finally complete, and Ian let out a breath of relief.
"Ian, you've barely gotten the hang of most basic Airship repairs. You can come work on them more often."
An alchemist named Zack Lloyd turned to Ian, his eyes full of appreciation.
Only a few months had passed since Ian had started learning Airship repair, yet he had already reached this level. That was rare.
The main reason was the sheer breadth of Alchemy knowledge involved. The problems were far more complicated, too.
"I have you to thank for your guidance, sir."
Ian thanked him.
Naturally, Ian had not started repairing Airships on his own. Rolf had arranged for Zack to guide him.
Zack had devoted his life to Alchemy. The only thing keeping him from becoming a Second Ring Alchemist was his level of mental strength.
"Go get some rest."
Ian nodded.
After leaving, he went to quartermaster Henry to exchange for some Earth Mercury.
"I wanted thirty grams. Why is there only twenty?"
Ian frowned.
"Things are tight at the front lately. The enemy has too many Alchemy Puppets, and the Academy has been using a lot of large Witchcraft Artifacts and Airships. Earth Mercury may become harder and harder to get."
Old Henry shook his head.
"I see."
Ian nodded.
Inwardly, he considered finding a way to stockpile Earth Mercury. If supplies truly grew tight, it would be difficult to obtain later.
Before that, though, he wanted to study his newly acquired talent.
Soon.
He returned home.
He opened the panel and examined his new talent.
"Object Perception."
