Late at night.
In the mining area, inside another room.
Lucien and Downs exchanged a glance, as though flames were burning in their eyes.
"Let's go."
Lucien spoke.
"Should we check on Ian's side?" Downs asked.
Lucien shook his head. "No need. Even if he notices now, it's already too late. Our top priority is to hurry and let the people from the Blackstone School in."
Downs nodded.
Soon, the two left the room and headed straight for the mine entrance.
"Lord Lucien, Lord Downs, why have you come?"
The two guards on duty atop the wall looked at them in surprise.
"Nothing. Just came up to see whether there are any security risks." Lucien spoke as he drew closer.
The two guards did not think much of it.
But when they were still several meters apart, two streams of ice suddenly appeared, like writhing tentacles.
The two could not react in time, and the ice immediately touched their bodies.
"My lords!"
The guards were utterly horrified, but the extreme cold had already invaded their bodies, making them feel as though even their Mental Power was about to freeze stiff.
At the same time, two vines emerged from Downs's sleeves and wrapped around the pair.
"Now we just wait for the wizards of the Blackstone School."
Lucien turned to look beyond the mine. The hazy mist seemed especially sinister against the backdrop of the night.
His eyes were filled with unwavering resolve.
"I'm doing this for myself. I don't want to watch my Mental Power weaken day by day until I die someday either. I want to become a wizard like Horton."
Beside him, Downs held his breath and focused.
If all went smoothly, after today, they would leave the school behind and head for the world beyond the forest.
