The air was as still as a frozen wasteland. The Wizards looked at one another, then at their disheveled instructor.
None of them seemed to have expected this.
The first demonstration of their new class had ended just like that.
Of course, no one thought Chase had done it deliberately. That could only mean Ian was too strong.
The gazes of several leading Wizards grew especially grave.
"Did you sense it just now?" Cyril asked Grant beside her, her expression solemn.
"No."
Grant narrowed her eyes and shook her head.
She had only realized it was an illusion when Ian's attack struck Chase.
It was terrifying.
What if she had been the one up there?
She would probably have been ambushed from behind and defeated before she could even react.
Perhaps that was the script Chase had intended.
Unfortunately, he had chosen Ian.
That fellow.
He had grown even stronger.
Her gaze flickered for a moment. Ian seemed even more frightening now than during the last test.
Under everyone's scrutiny, Chase felt rather awkward. After all, he was a Three Rings Wizard who had been caught by a Second Ring Wizard.
It made him blush no matter how he looked at it.
"Ian, step down. I'll demonstrate a few more examples."
He sent Ian away, then looked straight at Grant, currently the strongest of the others.
"Grant, come up."
"Yes, sir."
Grant nodded.
Everyone focused on the center again, watching to see how this round would end.
The result only proved that Ian was an anomaly.
This time, Chase transformed into a mantis-like alien creature. Strangely, it fought using neither elements nor conventional energy, but an uncanny power that allowed it to unleash startling bursts of speed.
Caught off guard, Grant was rushed at close range,
