If Karna showed up as well, he would basically be finished. Neither of those two heroes cared much for one-on-one fights. Being killed was unlikely, though; at a critical moment, he could still have Caules use a Command Spell to pull him back.
"Still not coming out? Your precious disciple has already run out of sight, my great sage!" Shirou stared resentfully at the patch of forest behind and to his right that had yet to be destroyed by the aftermath of his battle with Achilles.
