Heating Up

Shirou approved of the Red Faction Archer Atalanta's style of opening with her ultimate move.

Starting by throwing bombs—why not? At the very least, it made for an imposing display, didn't it?

But Shirou could not simply ignore the matter itself. Those homunculi and golems still had to serve as cannon fodder; it was not yet time for them to leave the stage.

"Gae Bolg!" A beam of light streaked across the sky, shattering Atalanta's rain of arrows. Though it was only a single attack, its quality was beyond anything Infinite Reload Cero could compare to.

"Tch!" Atalanta clicked her tongue in irritation, but there was nothing she could do about it. She was an oddity among Archers, knowing almost nothing about close combat.

She turned around, intending to hand Shirou, this troublesome opponent, over to someone better at close combat. "Rider, I'll leave the rest to you!"

"Oh! Got it, Sis!" Achilles took a few running steps, then leaped into the air and summoned his chariot midair.

"Come on, the battle has begun! In that case, I, the Red Faction's Rider, shall lead the charge!"

Relying on his chariot's exceptional performance, Achilles began charging recklessly through the enemy camp. The chariot, wrapped in a torrent of magical energy, was like a meat grinder, crushing every obstacle in his path.

"How could you possibly be a match for me?" Achilles proclaimed provocatively even as he rampaged. "Where are the Black Faction Servants? Is there really no one who can stop Rider's chariot?"

As everyone knew, showing off too much made it easy to get slapped in the face.

Two golems emerged from underground and blocked Achilles's path. Golems had no intelligence; such perfectly timed obstruction could not have been achieved without someone directing them.

Achilles naturally understood that as well.
