Background / History

Spirit Hall maintains a presence across nearly all of Douluo Continent, including much of the Heaven Dou Empire. Its reach is extensive enough that major powers, including the Upper Three Sects, cannot ignore it. Remote areas may have only nominal halls, but towns maintain functional branches for official business. 9 11

Under Bibi Dong's tenure as Pope, Spirit Hall underwent a violent internal reform. Corrupt officials at every level were forced out or eliminated if they refused to step down; Chrysanthemum Douluo served as Bibi Dong's executioner during this purge. The reforms created new organizations, revitalized the institution, and attracted additional independent Titled Douluo. 16

Bibi Dong also secured control of Spirit Hall's information network by placing loyal personnel throughout its five hall levels. About eighty percent of Martial Soul Branch Halls had her people stationed within them, while every higher type of hall had either a Bibi Dong-appointed master, deputy, or key official. 21

Despite this control, Spirit Hall remained divided between Bibi Dong's Pope faction and Qian Daoliu's Elder Hall faction. The Elder Hall relied on the strength of its Seven Great Enshrined to obstruct or intervene in the Pope's reforms. 46

Internal Power Struggle

The disappearance of four Level 95 Titled Douluo triggered an Elder Hall emergency meeting while Bibi Dong was away and Qian Daoliu remained in seclusion. The missing Douluo had been sent to investigate Lin Ning, whose four Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Rings had alarmed Spirit Hall's upper ranks. 38

The crisis worsened when two Enshrined also disappeared, forcing Qian Daoliu to return to public affairs. His reappearance allowed the Elder Hall to act decisively, but also intensified the existing division between the Elder Hall and Pope's Palace. 46 47

Qian Daoliu attempted to bring Lin Ning and Lin An under Spirit Hall's control, intending to use their talents and a Qian Family heir to produce a future candidate for the Nine Trials of the Angel. 53

After Bibi Dong was abducted by the twins and Spirit Hall issued wanted notices against them, Luohun Village retaliated by challenging Spirit Hall branches in Heaven Dou City and the Star Luo Empire before advancing on Spirit City. 54 71 75 86

Chen Jianjun defeated Qian Daoliu and compelled him to revoke the wanted notices for the children. The incident badly damaged Spirit Hall's reputation and contributed to staff departures during Bibi Dong's absence. 88 91 93 105
