Background / History

Nature Masters cultivate through comprehension, an ambiguous and non-quantifiable quality. This made their path far harder to standardize than Transcendent cultivation, which relied on scientific methods and reproducible training systems. As Transcendants strengthened, Nature Masters gradually declined. Following two wars roughly a thousand years earlier, Transcendants secured their dominant social status, and Eastern humans largely abandoned Nature Master methods to preserve their place in the world. 14

The tradition defines a Nature Master as one who takes nature as their teacher. “Nature” encompasses the earth, trees, water, wind, Kabudan Planet, and the universe itself; its goal is harmony with these things rather than the cultivation of destructive power alone. 44

By the time Chen Nan enters Luojing Transcendent Academy, the Nature Master Department is impoverished, marginalized, and routinely mocked by other departments. It has fewer than one hundred total instructors, staff, and students, with only around fifty major students. 94 137

Chen Nan’s entry and his development of the Myriad Laws Universe Control Art begin the department’s revival.
