Ch. 226Atlas Welcomes You Aboard, Dr. Halsey

Halsey arrived at Atlas’s base on Bountiful Star, where Alexia Ashford introduced her to the organization and its multiverse operations. She met Sui Yang and Vulkan, and Sui Yang began showing her Atlas’s situation through Psychic Power.

  • Leon, Ada, and the technicians sent Halsey through a Space Gate, and she arrived at another hall feeling sick from the transport.
  • Alexia Ashford introduced herself, had Halsey’s restraints removed, and escorted her through the base while explaining Atlas’s principles.
  • Halsey saw Atlas’s shipyard and factories, then read information about the multiverse, Sui Yang, and threats facing Universe 08.
  • Halsey speculated that Sui Yang could foresee the future because he knew about her and the Covenant.
  • Halsey entered Sui Yang’s office, where she was startled by the giant Vulkan, and Sui Yang used Psychic Power to show her Atlas’s information.

Ch. 227Fast In, Fast Out: "My Knee!"

Leon and the Atlas Investigators raided ONI headquarters in New Alexandria and seized Melissa, the Smart AI. After the terminal data reached Bountiful Star, an Atlas fleet jumped toward Shield World 0459.

  • Ada briefed Leon and the Investigators on their plan to infiltrate Olympic Tower, capture Melissa, and escape on foot.
  • Leon and Mike discussed the risks of using live ammunition and teased Leon about his relationship with Ada before the team activated Optical Camouflage.
  • More than sixty Investigators attacked Olympic Tower, disabled its defenses, and forced their way through the barriers.
  • Chris and his Special Operations Group seized Melissa's terminal and escaped with Leon, Mike, Maggie, and the others into New Alexandria.
  • Ada sent Melissa's terminal storage device to Bountiful Star, and an Atlas fleet began Jump Travel to Shield World 0459.

Ch. 228Life During Jump Travel

During the long slipspace journey, Leman sparred with Vulkan while Halsey watched and continued her work on the Next-Generation Intelligent AI. The chapter ended with Horus reporting that military suppression had stabilized most regions of Earth-02.

  • Leman challenged Vulkan to a sparring match as ODST and AECS personnel gathered to watch and bet on the fight.
  • Leman tricked Vulkan with a feigned sneeze and landed two blows, but Vulkan overpowered him and forced him to surrender with an Armbar.
  • Halsey watched the brothers fight, reflected on her work at Atlas, and headed to the laboratory complex to help Alexia finish the Next-Generation Intelligent AI.
  • Horus told Sui Yang that three months of military suppression had stabilized the situation across most of Earth-02.

Ch. 229"Synthetics"

Sui Yang assigned Horus new duties and ordered the Cadet Corps to Bountiful Star as the Fleet approached a region threatened by the Flood and Covenant. At the research center, Alexia began testing whether an AI’s consciousness could be transferred into a synthetic body.

  • Sui Yang appointed Horus governor of Universe 02 and ordered the seven Cadet Corps to prepare for combat on Bountiful Star.
  • Sui Yang told Halsey that the Fleet would soon reach a region near Shield World 0459 and might need her advice about the Flood and Covenant.
  • Alexia explained that she was transferring Apu’s data into a clone grown from an Elite D-Class Personnel donor.
  • Alexia proposed giving Smart AIs dedicated bodies so they could help troops explore Shield World 0459 without relying on real-time communications.
  • Sui Yang approved of Alexia’s synthetic-body experiment, which matched the idea he had come to discuss.

Ch. 230Covenant and Flood

Vulkan and Leman planned a covert reconnaissance mission to Shield World 0459, where a Flood outbreak threatened the Covenant fleet. The chapter left the team descending toward the shield world as Beacon watched the Covenant ships.

  • Leman and Vulkan assessed the Flood threat on Shield World 0459 and identified the Covenant fleet as four CRS-class cruisers and one CCS-class Battlecruiser.
  • Beacon's captain and the ODST major discussed the risks of attacking the Covenant, while Vulkan asked Apu and Melissa whether they could take control of the shield world's central systems.
  • Apu and Melissa confirmed they could activate the shield world's communications jamming and containment fields, and Vulkan ordered a reconnaissance team to deploy.
  • Thirty minutes later, a Luna Transport and four Pelicans escorted by Phantom III fighters left Beacon under optical camouflage and entered 0459's atmosphere.
  • The soldiers aboard Pelican 04 wore MacP-I Power Armor, developed for Atlas Emergency Countermeasure Service troops.

Ch. 231A "Blind Date"? Forms

Jains Thomson and his AECS squad landed on Shield World 0459 to secure the landing zone while Smart AIs sought a route inside. After the area was declared clear, Vulkan ordered a reconnaissance advance into the Forerunner city, led by Leman.

  • Jains considered asking the company to arrange a blind date as his unit descended toward Shield World 0459.
  • Jains led the AECS elites out of the Pelican and assessed the grassland, jungle, and nearby Forerunner city.
  • Jains saw Apu and Melissa in protective suits and mused that Synthetics might make better partners than humans.
  • Jains and the other squad leaders reported their sectors clear, and Vulkan assigned two squads to guard the landing zone while the others advanced.
  • Leman charged toward the Forerunner city ahead of the ODST and Thunder Warriors.

Ch. 232"Flood" Flood Parasites

Leman, the Thunder Warriors, and the ODSTs fought through the Flood Parasites at the outskirts of the Forerunner city. After the battle, Apu explained how they planned to use the Gravity Well to isolate the Covenant fleet, just as hundreds of drones approached.

  • Leman detected an ambush and opened fire on Infection Forms pouring from a rooftop.
  • Leman and the Thunder Warriors charged into the swarm while ODSTs covered the flanks and eliminated stragglers.
  • The forces exterminated most of the Flood, though spores released from the corpses made the area more dangerous.
  • Vulkan escorted Apu and Melissa into the city, where Apu described their plan to reach the surface control room and activate the Gravity Well.
  • Hundreds of approaching drones appeared as Apu finished explaining the plan.

Ch. 233Sanctum Defenders, the Underground, and "I Am Tranquil River"

Vulkan’s group reached Shield World 0459’s underground and used a Teleportation Well to arrive in its Core World, where its guide, Tranquil Riverbank, welcomed them. Meanwhile, the Covenant fleet was pulled into the Shield World as the surface broke apart.

  • Sanctum Defenders scanned Vulkan’s group, recognized them as Reclaimers, and resumed purging Flood; Apu led the group underground.
  • Vulkan asked Apu whether the group could take control of the Sentinels, and Apu warned that the Shield World’s Forerunner AI might have gone mad after ten million years.
  • Leman and ten Thunder Warriors activated a Teleportation Well and vanished; Vulkan’s group later used it to reach the Core World.
  • Vulkan and Leman surveyed the artificial world and encountered Tranquil Riverbank, who identified herself as the guide to Shield World 0459.
  • The surface of Shield World 0459 began to crack, and a surge of gravity dragged the Covenant fleet into the atmosphere and toward the depths.

Ch. 234The "Xenomorph" Race

A Sangheili Covenant fleet was pulled into Shield World 0459 and emerged inside its idyllic core region. The gold-armored shipmaster ordered reconnaissance while remaining wary of the Flood and the Prophet of Regret’s insistence that it belonged to the Great Journey.

  • Shield World 0459 violently opened a fissure and dragged the Sangheili fleet into the region between its surface and core, leaving the ship unable to navigate normally.
  • The gold-armored shipmaster refused a face-to-face negotiation request from the Brutes’ commander-in-chief and waited for the fleet’s navigation status to stabilize.
  • The fleet passed through the metallic soil and entered the miracle’s core, prompting the Sangheili crew to praise the gods.
  • The gold-armored shipmaster recalled how the Flood infected his soldiers and remained baffled that the Prophet of Regret called it part of the Great Journey.
  • The gold-armored shipmaster described how he had ordered Sangheili to avoid the Flood and had imprisoned or executed pilgrims to prevent its spread.
  • The gold-armored shipmaster ordered scientific expedition teams and ground troops to reconnoiter the core region’s surface.

Ch. 235"I believe in you, brother. You can do it."

Vulkan and Leman consulted Tranquil Riverbank after she trapped the Covenant Fleet inside Shield World 0459 and sealed its travel and communications. Vulkan arranged for Leman and the Thunder Warriors to make contact with the fleet and test whether they could avoid a fight, while keeping watch on Tranquil Riverbank’s capabilities.

  • Tranquil Riverbank told Leman that she had drawn the Covenant Fleet into Shield World 0459’s core and sealed its Jump Travel and external communications.
  • Vulkan asked Tranquil Riverbank for Forerunner knowledge and a report on the shield world; she refused to share her stored information but uploaded documents about the world to his Power Armor.
  • Vulkan grew wary after noticing that Tranquil Riverbank could access Atlas systems, then had Apu notify the fleet that the shield world’s low orbit was open for Jump Travel.
  • Tranquil Riverbank refused to help dismantle the Covenant Fleet or fully eradicate the Flood, citing protocol restrictions, and Vulkan agreed to address the Flood after the Covenant.
  • Vulkan sent Leman and the Thunder Warriors to contact the trapped Covenant Fleet and test whether they would listen to the truth about their leaders’ lies.
  • Tranquil Riverbank transported Leman and the Thunder Warriors away in cyan-blue Radiant Light.

Ch. 236Jackals, Grunts, "Divine Realm"

Covenant forces deployed to the 0459 Core World, where a Brute mistreated the Grunts under his command. When Leman and the Thunder Warriors appeared through Forerunner teleportation, the Grunts mistook them for gods from the Divine Realm.

  • Five Covenant cruisers hovered above a forest as the flagship deployed combat squads to the surface.
  • Grunts fired on wild beasts in the forest, then collapsed in relief when the brief skirmish ended.
  • A Brute captain crushed a Grunt’s neck for panicking and ordered the rest to patrol for Flood.
  • Forerunner teleportation light appeared, prompting the Covenant squad to raise its weapons and the Brute to request reinforcements.
  • Leman and the Thunder Warriors emerged from the light, and the Grunts knelt, calling them gods.

Ch. 237"Hey! Buddy, now we're brothers!

Leman arrived among the Covenant forces, was mistaken for a god by the Grunts and Gnolls, and recognized the conflict between the Brutes and Elites as an opportunity to provoke a civil war. He slaughtered the Brutes and befriended the red-armored Elite, declaring that they would go together to see its commander.

  • Leman found Grunts and Gnolls kneeling before him, while a Brute captain doubted that he was a Forerunner.
  • A red-armored Sangheili reprimanded the Brute captain, and a heavily armed Brute commander arrived and shoved the Elite aside.
  • Leman demanded to be taken to the Covenant's highest commander, then cut off the Brute commander's arm to provoke the Brutes into attacking.
  • Leman killed the Brute commander and slaughtered the Brutes, while the Grunts and Gnolls fled.
  • Leman crushed the red-armored Elite's weapon, put an arm around its shoulder, and called them brothers as he promised to kill Brutes on the way to its commander.

Ch. 238Clash

Leman subdued a red-armored Elite and led the Thunder Warriors toward the CCS-class Battlecruiser's Gravity Elevator, where Covenant forces mounted increasing resistance. As the Thunder Warriors ran low on ammunition, 014 drew a Chainsword and charged into a heavily guarded clearing, where Covenant troops opened fire on him.

  • The red-armored Elite attacked Leman, failed to damage his armor, and surrendered after Leman threatened to remove its limbs.
  • Leman ordered the twenty Thunder Warriors to kill hostile targets but spare Sangheili and Unggoy, then continued toward the Gravity Elevator with the Elite following him.
  • The Thunder Warriors slaughtered Covenant combat squads with Bolt Rounds as they advanced, but their ammunition dwindled because the Beacon could not provide effective support.
  • After firing his last Bolt Round, Thunder Warrior 014 drew a Chainsword and ran toward the Gravity Elevator.
  • Covenant guards, including a red-armored High-ranking Elite, spotted 014 and concentrated their fire on him.

Ch. 239Special-Hired Employee Sangheili

014 and the Thunder Warriors captured the Covenant outpost at the Gravity Elevator after a brutal battle, killing or incapacitating its defenders. Leman told the captured Elite that its Sangheili would soon become special-hired employees of Atlas, with his father arriving shortly.

  • 014 dodged heavy fire and crystals, lost his left forearm, then killed a Brute and drove off the Unggoy.
  • 014 reached the Gravity Elevator and killed the Hunters by striking their unarmored waists.
  • Leman arrived and watched as twenty Thunder Warriors secured the area, leaving nearly a hundred Elites unconscious and the other Covenant forces dead or fleeing.
  • The Thunder Warriors suffered severe casualties, with six losing limbs and three destroyed outright.
  • Leman reassured the red-armored Elite that he would need its help negotiating with the supreme commander and said the Sangheili would soon work for Atlas.

Ch. 240"Roar!! Cuobala (Courting Death)!!"

Leman and his Thunder Warriors reached the battlecruiser’s junction, where Garol explained their actions to the gold-armored captain. Seeking to judge whether Leman’s people were worthy allies, the captain challenged him, and Leman accepted as the captain charged.

  • The gold-armored captain ordered its guards to meet Leman’s group and sent squads to protect the engine room.
  • Leman, four Thunder Warriors, and Garol arrived at the junction, where Leman asked Garol to explain their reasons to the captain.
  • Garol told the captain that Leman’s force had spared Sangheili while attacking Brutes, and suggested they wanted an alliance.
  • The captain activated its plasma blades and challenged Leman to prove his worth.
  • Leman drew the Sword of Winter, sparked it with Psychic Power lightning, and provoked the captain, who charged at him.

Ch. 241"Halo" "Halo Wars"

Leman defeated the Covenant Elite Guard and captured its commander while Sui Yang’s fleet arrived at Shield World 0459. Sui Yang ordered the fleet toward the Core World and planned to investigate Tranquil Riverbank and tell the Elite prisoners the truth.

  • Leman knocked out the gold-armored captain and twenty Elite warriors, then continued toward the bridge with Garol and four Thunder Warriors.
  • Three hours later, the Atlas Fleet emerged from Slipspace near Shield World 0459, and the Beacon rejoined the fleet.
  • The Beacon’s captain reported Leman’s capture of the Covenant fleet commander and said Tranquil Riverbank would open the gates to the Core World.
  • Sui Yang ordered the fleet to proceed to the Core World and considered having Halsey analyze Tranquil Riverbank.
  • Sui Yang planned to meet the Elite prisoners and use Psychic Power to tell them the truth.

Ch. 242"Rule the Stars and Galaxies" — Sojourner-class, the Ninth Gate

Sui Yang secured the Elites’ and Grunts’ allegiance and set Atlas to work consolidating its gains in Shield World 0459. With the Forerunner warships acquired and the remaining Flood threat targeted, Atlas prepared to expand its fleet and plan for the ninth Space Gate.

  • Atlas’s crews built a base and prison on Shield World 0459 while starting a fixed Ark Transmission link to Bountiful Star.
  • Sui Yang used Psychic Power to share the Forerunner and human histories with the prisoners and inspire loyalty, after which Xander Bank Rothze and the other Elites and Grunts pledged themselves to the Reclaimers.
  • Sui Yang made the Elites and Grunts probationary Atlas recruits and left Melissa to open their cells and help them learn human language.
  • Sui Yang sent Vulkan and Leman to find the Primordial Corpse Brain Beast and met Tranquil Riverbank, who agreed to teach Forerunner technology to Halsey.
  • Atlas acquired access to thirty-six Sojourner-class warships and planned to have Xander mislead the Covenant while preparing for the ninth Space Gate.

Ch. 243Residents of the Main Universe: "The Three of Us," "A Mess

Lina watched her brother Charlie lead Accra’s team against Seattle in the Second World High School American Football League final while reflecting on her family’s life in the transformed city. Meanwhile, Soap, Ghost, and Roach traveled to Relic Base for a new deployment and reviewed Advance Team intelligence from Universe 09, where they saw a city in complete disarray.

  • Lina and the other Accra cheerleaders watched Seattle’s performance before the host introduced both teams and their quarterbacks, Yorhan Morgan and Charlie Hoinerd.
  • The referee’s coin toss gave Seattle the offense, and Yorhan charged forward until Charlie stopped him.
  • Lina recognized Yorhan’s surname from news about senior general Arthur Morgan, then returned her attention to the match.
  • A maglev train carrying equipment and deployed personnel sped toward Relic Base as Soap teased Ghost about his skull mask and Roach ate a meal.
  • Ghost showed Soap and Roach images and footage from Universe 09, revealing a city that looked like New Accra but appeared to them to be a complete mess.

Ch. 244Night City

Soap, Ghost, and Roach arrived at the Relic Base and received orders to help establish Atlas’s branch in Night City, a violent city in Universe 09. The company assigned the team Celine, a powerful network-connected artificial intelligence, and warned them to protect her.

  • Soap, Ghost, and Roach arrived at the Relic Base, settled into temporary quarters, and waited for intelligence about Universe 09.
  • Jack Krauser briefed the officers that Investigators had infiltrated Night City and reported its widespread cyberware, gang violence, and corporate control.
  • Krauser explained that Atlas would establish a branch in Night City and build local support rather than integrate the population by force.
  • Lei Ruoya asked how the team would enter local society and defend against hackers, and Krauser introduced Celine as the company’s latest artificial intelligence.
  • Krauser ordered the team to protect Celine, whose development had cost hundreds of millions.

Ch. 245"Nanosuit," "Dragon's Roar," Westbrook (

Soap, Ghost, and Roach received new Nanosuits and joined a task force bound for Night City. As Roach’s group flew toward Westbrook, Price authorized them to clear out local gangs and make the operation appear to be a gang war.

  • Soap tested the Nanosuit’s nanorobots, endured the painful extraction, and received its external armor alongside Ghost and Roach.
  • The team saw Niren Hogg pass through the Space Gates toward Bountiful Star, then met Lei Ruoya and the assembled task force.
  • Soap led the task force through the Space Gate to the company’s new base in Universe 09 and assigned Roach to protect Celine.
  • Roach boarded a Black Falcon with Celine, Lei Ruoya, and ten Glory Warriors, and the formation flew stealthily toward Night City.
  • Price told the Joint Task Force to help clear Westbrook’s gangs, granted weapons-free authority, and ordered them to make the company’s first operation look like a gang war.
