"Mr. Tiandao... can we really just walk out of here so brazenly?"
Danika timidly followed behind Tiandao, hunching up like a startled kitten.
She held a lollipop in one hand and clutched Tiandao's pant leg with the other.
Her amber-like eyes flickered with obvious unease.
She nervously watched the Grey Rat Gang guards outside the cell.
She was clearly still haunted by the people who had dragged her out of the Gear Church's Prayer Room.
Seeing Little Danika like this,
Tiandao smiled and rubbed her little head.
"Don't worry. They can't see us."
"Huh? Why not?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
"Oh, okay."
Danika obediently nodded, then instinctively rubbed her little head against Tiandao's palm, docile beyond belief.
It somehow made Tiandao think of seven or eight years ago.
Back when he had only recently arrived at Ember Base.
He had often rubbed a certain someone's head like this too.
That person, however, was different from Danika.
Because whenever he dared do it, that person would immediately pull a cold face and "hiss" at him.
Unfortunately, Tiandao was just that stubborn.
The more someone told him not to do something, the more he insisted on doing it.
Rebellion was his specialty.
To the point that later, someone had developed a conditioned reflex.
The moment she saw Tiandao raise his hand,
she would immediately put on a cold face and start "hissing."
She would glare at him, warning Tiandao not to try anything.
But Tiandao never listened.
He happily remained trapped in an Infinite Loop of "petting the cat, getting hissed at, petting the cat, getting hissed at."
At the thought, Tiandao could not help laughing, then helplessly shook his head.
He then looked at the little one cautiously following behind him.
