After paying a grievous price, the orcs finally broke through the bombardment range of the Magic Crystal Cannons, but the nightmare awaiting them had only just begun.

Upon the City of Guardianship's walls, several thousand figures cloaked in black robes and radiating sinister, eerie auras slowly raised their pitch-black staffs and began chanting obscure, incomprehensible spells.

In an instant, the sky darkened. Dark Element energy surged in from all directions like waves, and within mere breaths, the dense energy transformed into fierce spells that poured down upon the orcs attacking the city.

In an instant, over a thousand high-level dark spells descended upon the tens of thousands of orcs. Though the foxfolk and naga priests in the rear reacted swiftly and had been prepared, defense was ultimately far less proactive than offense. Two to three hundred spells still broke through the Orc Priests' interception and crashed down.

Compared to Type I Magic Cannonballs, these high-level spells personally cast by mages did not differ greatly in raw power, but they were much harder to guard against, especially dark spells, which were renowned for their strangeness.

Take Life Deprivation, for example. It was nothing more than a mass of pitch-black light, but once it touched an orc, that black radiance became like countless tiny tentacles, rapidly burrowing into the orc's body. In only moments, the orc's powerful muscles began to wither, its skin dried and wrinkled, and its life force visibly drained away until it became a desiccated corpse and collapsed. Even many low- and Intermediate Warrior orcs with battle aura protecting their bodies were severely weakened after being touched by the black light, their strength reduced to less than a tenth.
