Hearing that he would be unable to contact or interact with the outside world for at least three months, Reed hesitated for a moment before ultimately agreeing.
He had originally promised to help Mr. Hawking research the Gravity Device. He had only planned to delay it because he had set Doom up, but now Mr. Hawking had cleaned up after him and resolved Doom Company's problems.
Let alone three months—even three years would be only right.
What he hesitated over was simply that he could not bear to leave Susan.
