After protecting everyone with the Super Shield Charm, Hawking stepped through the barrier and headed toward General Ross's command vehicle.
Seeing this, Ross immediately ordered all firepower to be redirected at Hawking.
As long as Hawking was taken out, the others were no problem.

Lasers formed from ki flashed from his eyes. The rockets, shells, and helicopter-mounted missiles were intercepted by the lasers in mid-air before they could reach Hawking.
Even the more than twenty armed helicopters were struck by the lasers, smoking as they crashed down.
His tail swung from side to side, and two Exploding Charms struck the buildings on either side. The buildings instantly collapsed, burying all the snipers hidden inside.
Fortunately, the surrounding civilians had already been evacuated because of the earlier battle against the Hulk. Otherwise, he really would have had to hold back somewhat.
