"Save me?"

Star-Lord looked at the fallen handcuffs, then at Mr. Hawking, certain he had never met the man before.

Mr. Hawking smiled. "Remember that bounty? I posted it. I just didn't find you waiting in that room, so I had to come here to look for you."

"So it was you!"

Star-Lord's expression changed. He snatched up the two Element Guns that had been confiscated on the table and aimed them at Mr. Hawking's head. "Why did you put a bounty on me? I don't remember ever offending you."

A ten-million bounty for his capture, even breaking into prison to take him away—just how deep was this grudge?

Could it be another romantic debt he had racked up, with someone's family coming after him?

But Yondu had taken him from Earth when he was nine, and he had never returned even once. How could he have left behind a romantic debt on Earth?

"Those weapons won't work on me."

Mr. Hawking glanced at the two Element Guns in Star-Lord's hands, and they immediately turned into oversized Orleans fried chicken drumsticks.

Star-Lord stared at the drumsticks in disbelief. "Oh, shit!"

He came to his senses and threw them away, then immediately picked up the stun baton the guards had used on him from the floor.

The next second, however, the baton turned into an enormous sausage.

"What the hell?"

Realizing how bizarre Mr. Hawking's abilities were, he tossed away the sausage, grabbed his Walkman, and turned to run.

If he couldn't win, he ran. There was nothing shameful about that.

"Groot!"

Rocket Raccoon shouted at Groot, who immediately swung an arm and knocked Star-Lord to the ground.

"Hey, buddy, I caught him for you. That ten-million bounty is mine!"

Rocket Raccoon jumped onto Star-Lord's back and smugly addressed Mr. Hawking.
