"Of course, but how were you going to explain suddenly having a new sports car to your family?"
Hawking asked with a smile.
Peter scratched his head.
"I-I really hadn't figured that out."
That was true. If he suddenly spent a hundred thousand dollars on a new sports car and drove it home, Uncle Ben and Aunt May would definitely ask where the money had come from. He could not tell them the truth, and that would become troublesome.
Seeing this, Hawking offered a suggestion.
"How about this? Didn't you say you liked photography? I know the owner of the Daily Bugle pretty well, so I can get you a part-time reporter's ID.
When you go home, say you happened to take some very valuable photos. The Daily Bugle's owner appreciated you and invited you to work part-time during the holidays. He was also willing to lend you a sports car to drive for these last few days before graduation."
"You know the owner of the Daily Bugle too?!"
Peter's eyes immediately widened.
Photography was one of his few hobbies aside from studying. In fact, besides becoming a scientist, he had always wanted to become a reporter someday.
And while the Daily Bugle was not New York's biggest newspaper, it was still one of the more prominent ones. Naturally, he knew of it.
"I can take you to meet him in a bit. Then we can buy the car. By the way, do you have a driver's license?"
Hawking nodded. He was only fifteen, and in New York, one had to be at least sixteen to get a license. If Peter did not have one, neither of them could drive the car after buying it.
He could not exactly use an Imperius Curse on every traffic cop they ran into.
