Land of Fire
Kakuzu had just finished a job. His partner had "accidentally" died again, and now he had come alone to a remote place with the corpse.
Kakuzu carried the corpse on his back. Its skin had gone gray and decayed, and it had only received rudimentary treatment. A faint stench was already wafting from it.
But Kakuzu did not care at all. To him, the smell of a rotting corpse was the scent of money.
A restroom appeared ahead. Kakuzu carried the corpse inside and pressed something beside the urinal, revealing a hidden door.
A bald man with a scar above his eyebrow poked his head out. Seeing that Kakuzu had arrived, he hurriedly greeted him. "Brother Kakuzu, this way."
Kakuzu seemed very familiar with the place. After entering, he tossed the corpse onto a wooden board that extended out.
The bald man checked it against some information. "That's right, Brother Kakuzu. He's a rogue ninja from the Land of Earth. Seven million."
Kakuzu was not particularly satisfied with that number, but this Iwa ninja had only been moderately skilled. Aside from the effort of tracking him down, the job had not taken much time.
Taking the cash case the bald man handed over, he counted the money as he asked, "Any good bounties or intelligence lately?"
The bald man stood beside him. He seemed to have known Kakuzu would ask, so he immediately replied, "Brother Kakuzu, you've been too busy lately. Quite a few major things have happened."
Even Kakuzu's hands paused as he counted. He said nothing, carefully finished counting the money, then said, "The money's fine. What major things did you just mention?"
