Background / History

Prince Jing is a member of Yan Country's Murong Imperial Clan, which is politically dominated by the Five Great Sects. His son, Murong Cheng, describes the clan as imperial puppets whose survival depends on the sects' will. 112

His daughter Xiao Min was murdered by Lin Donghai, the Demonic Sect's Foundation Establishment Middle Stage representative in Yan Country's Immortal Mansion. Prince Jing outwardly endured this humiliation, even attending Lin Donghai's three-hundredth birthday celebration, while privately preparing an assassination attempt. 111 112

Prince Jing is a sharply featured middle-aged man of around forty, bearing a strong resemblance to Murong Cheng and an authority that does not require displays of anger. 111

Prince Jing is courteous and generous toward powerful guests, but remains vigilant toward unfamiliar allies. Although he honors Lu Lin under the alias Tang Yan with a banquet and valuable cultivation resources, he privately warns Murong Cheng not to trust him prematurely. 111

He is patient, secretive, and politically pragmatic. He conceals his hostility toward Lin Donghai for years, quietly gathers Innate martial artists and Foundation Establishment cultivators, and waits until Lin Donghai enters seclusion before moving against him. 111 112

His restraint is rooted in responsibility rather than cowardice. After the Martial Alliance is exposed, he chooses to return for Murong Cheng and flee Yan Country rather than abandon his son. 120

Alliance with Tang Yan

After Tang Yan saves Murong Cheng from Heaven's Desire Cult cultivators during the Black Wind Bandit campaign, Prince Jing hosts him at his manor and gives him one hundred Qi and Blood Pills. Despite this generosity, Prince Jing suspects Tang Yan may have engineered the rescue to gain access to Murong Cheng. 110 111

Tang Yan later becomes a respected instructor to Murong Cheng and the manor's martial artists, while Prince Jing continues to observe him cautiously. 111

Assassination of Lin Donghai

Prince Jing attends Lin Donghai's birthday banquet despite Lin Donghai's role in Xiao Min's death. When Lin Donghai publicly demands Prince Ning's fourteen-year-old daughter Murong Ling as a cultivation partner, Prince Jing prevents Murong Cheng from reacting and continues concealing his plans. 112

After obtaining the location of Lin Donghai's seclusion, Prince Jing leads secretly assembled experts to assassinate him. Lin Donghai's scheme nearly wipes out the group, but Tang Yan intervenes, kills Lin Donghai and a fleeing Foundation Establishment cultivator, and saves Prince Jing's forces. 112 114

Repaying Tang Yan

Following the assassination, Prince Jing identifies himself humbly as Murong Fu and promises to repay Tang Yan without refusal. He grants Tang Yan the complete Purple Eyed Dragon Ape Blood Qi Art, gathers three hundred jin of Blood Crystals and two hundred Qi and Blood Pills, and personally arranges Tang Yan's disguised entry into the Purple Eyed Dragon Ape Garden. 114 115

Martial Alliance Crisis

Nan Boyong, Vice Sect Master of the Blood Fiend Demonic Sect, orders Prince Jing to locate the Martial Alliance within seven days and threatens his family if he fails. Prince Jing denies knowing its headquarters, then secretly uses his manor's escape passage with Tang Yan and Zhang Xun to warn Mu Yetong. 118 119

The warning operation is tracked, exposing Prince Jing's connection to the Martial Alliance. After Mu Yetong remains behind to confront the Five Great Sects, Prince Jing separates from Tang Yan and returns toward the imperial capital to retrieve Murong Cheng and escape Yan Country. 120
