361. Enkidu
Despair welled up in the homunculus's heart. His powerful desire to survive drove him onward with difficulty, but even though he had already given it everything he had, his frail muscles could not support him moving quickly. He could only watch helplessly as his pursuers drew closer and closer.
Whoosh—
The homunculus suddenly fell to the ground, his pale hands scraping bloody, ghastly marks across the dirt. An unprecedented pain flooded his mind.
Turning back, the homunculus saw an arrow piercing through his calf.
"Lord Gord, the target has been hit. Should we eliminate him on the spot?"
"No! I want to capture him and send him to the laboratory. I want to see which formula in his body has malfunctioned!"
Gord's irritable voice came from the woods. Though he acted like a grandson in front of Darnic, he was still a thoroughbred aristocrat. When facing these harmless homunculus subordinates, he immediately threw his weight around.
"The laboratory..."
The homunculus let out a pained cry. Images of his brothers and sisters dying miserably in nutrient tanks flashed through his mind. He squeezed out one last bit of strength from his exhausted body and crawled forward with difficulty.
I want to live. I don't want to die...
At that moment, the homunculus had nothing left in his mind but the desire to survive. As he prayed desperately from the depths of his heart, a red tattoo-like pattern appeared on the back of his hand. The Mana within him gradually began to resonate with the earth.
"He's over here! Break both his legs and bring him back!"
Gord's shrill voice reached the homunculus's ears once again. The homunculus glanced back and saw
