Through the master-servant contract, Higashino Kanade asked Mordred in his mind:
"Little Mo, what do you think?"
"Master, my instincts tell me this woman is definitely no good. You absolutely can't trust her!" Mordred replied through the contract, sounding worried on the surface but anxious inside.
"Indeed. I think I should refuse her, but it would be a shame not to make use of a Servant delivered right to my doorstep."
PS: I had classes all day today and really had no time to write. I still owe one chapter; I'll try to make it up tonight.
379. Turning Hostile!
Cooperating with Semiramis was undoubtedly like seeking a tiger's skin. With a venomous woman like her, there was no telling when she might poison him, control him, or kill him. Higashino Kanade was not Amakusa Shirou Tokisada; he had no confidence in making that poisonous woman fall for him willingly. Besides, Higashino Kanade had never intended to make Semiramis fall in love with him. After all, each of his three wives was tougher than the last...
If Higashino Kanade had not possessed Avalon, he would have stayed far away from her and not even wanted to meet Semiramis.
However, none of the Servants knew that Higashino Kanade possessed a trump card called Avalon. It was a Noble Phantasm capable of healing all injuries, even curses. Mere poison could not harm Higashino Kanade at all.
Since Semiramis dared to put on an act before Higashino Kanade and wanted to use him, he did not mind playing hard to get, crushing her arrogance and turning her into one of his pawns. What he did need to worry about was the safety of those around him, guarding against Semiramis targeting them.
