Gilgamesh pointed at Merlin as he spoke.
"I still have matters to attend to. Let Merlin take you to your quarters first so you can rest and recover your energy. Tonight, we shall have a proper celebration."
"Yes, King Gilgamesh." Merlin bowed, then walked toward Higashino Kanade with a smile.
As he followed Merlin out of the Royal Palace, Higashino Kanade couldn't shake the surreal feeling in his heart. Wasn't this mission progressing a little too smoothly?
He had only just arrived in Uruk, yet Gilgamesh had already given him the position of Regent King and was even willing to fully support him in establishing a ninja village. It was as if the other man had been waiting for him all along.
Was there some conspiracy behind this? Yet Gilgamesh's explanation made sense. As Golden Flash, he was exactly this sort of Wise King. It was reasonable for him to divide his authority for the sake of his people, but something still felt off. It was like a pit of fire was waiting for him to jump in.
As they walked, Higashino Kanade suddenly noticed that the surrounding buildings were wrong. Merlin was not taking him toward the city district, but toward the Royal Palace gardens instead.
Along the way, he saw only guards, servants, and many beautiful women. Such an elegant place was undoubtedly Gilgamesh's harem.
"Merlin, why did you bring me here?"
Higashino Kanade grabbed Merlin by the neck, dragged him into a corner, and questioned him.
"Lord Regent King, aren't I taking you to your room to rest? Just a few more steps ahead is the room King Gilgamesh arranged for you."
Merlin respectfully pointed in a direction, looking utterly harmless.
"Isn't this Gilgamesh's harem? Why are you bringing me here? Are you up to no good?"
