After sending the message to her companions still busy in Dogtown, Carl ended the call.
Representing Dogtown in business negotiations with Arasaka had indeed gone quite smoothly.
Since both sides knew each other inside out, all the tedious procedures—arguments over the meeting location, wariness over security details, verbal probing—were skipped entirely.
The whole negotiation, from start to finish, had taken only ten minutes.
With the business concluded, Carl was in no hurry to leave. She spent another half hour or so calmly enjoying tea and snacks, taking a brief break amid her work, and only left once she had rested enough.
Even so, the total time from entering Arasaka to finally leaving had been far less than expected. Compared to the scale such a negotiation should have had, it was astonishingly efficient.
But Carl had no way to use the time she had saved to rest, because she needed to hurry to her next meeting immediately.
While all her companions were busy, Carl could still shoulder her responsibilities as their leader.
If she did not settle matters properly, a whole series of affairs in Dogtown could not move forward. Even though experienced people like Gago and Akechi could handle most things, major decisions concerning direction and interests still had to be made and signed off on by her.
But Carl had already made up her mind.
The old Carl had thought that with Yorinobu around, perhaps she could slack off a little. But now...
