Compared with Hermione, Ron really did seem a little simple-minded.
He had a deep-seated fear of fire, all because of his terrible twin brothers. Yes, George and Fred again.
But this time, he wasn't the one who got hurt.
Back then, George and Fred had claimed they'd improved "Magical Wonder Beans," a rather expensive but extremely amusing candy. Anyone who ate one might start making the calls of all kinds of animals, and sometimes even blow out clouds of smoke like a train's whistle.
The one willing to try this mystery candy was Ron's second-oldest brother, Charlie, who had always been so cool.
Ron would never forget that scene.
After eating the candy, Charlie burst into flames. In an instant, he was lying on the floor, screaming. He had nearly set the wooden Burrow on fire, leaving them homeless.
Charlie was powerful enough to extinguish the flames on himself and the bedsheets with magic. He smeared burn ointment on himself and warned Percy and Ron not to tell their parents.
This cool older brother was so gentle that he didn't blame George and Fred at all. When they got scared, he even encouraged them.
Ron had always thought that George and Fred were so lawless because their unconventional father, along with their older brothers Bill and Charlie, had indulged them.
Even while gritting his teeth in pain, Charlie had laughed and said it was an interesting experience.
Young Ron, on the other hand, had been scared witless.
It was just so messed up. Living in the shadow of those two lunatic brothers had left Ron with plenty of shadows of his own.
Now, surrounded by a sea of fire, he looked out at endless flames. The memory of Charlie lying on the floor and screaming came rushing back.
