Today, in Magical Creature Care, Professor Hagrid had everyone put on thick protective gloves and collect the highly toxic slime of a magical creature called the Chameleon Slug.
"Hey, no need to be nervous, everyone. The Ministry of Magic rated it XXX-dangerous because of its slime. As for the rest of its body, well, it's really just like an ordinary harmless snail."
Though Hagrid said that, everyone watched the multicolored snails crawling freely across the ground. Everywhere they passed, they left behind a highly poisonous trail. Any plant that touched it withered and burned...
Even Hermione, the most competitive of them all, had gone a little pale.
Hagrid shrugged helplessly. "You know, lots of wizards like keeping Chameleon Slugs as pets. I thought you'd like them."
Draco watched a Chameleon Slug with an eerily fluorescent green shell crawl toward him and instinctively took a frightened step back. It looked much like a snail, except it stood a full meter tall. Two soft feelers extended from its pale blue, glossy flesh, probing steadily toward his face.
"I can't believe anyone would like a creature like this. A pet?" He found it utterly absurd.
Anton crouched cheerfully before the giant snail, meeting the eyes on its fleshy feelers with his own, his face full of amazement. "This is the most magical creature I've ever seen! Nothing else even comes close!"
Draco froze. "Hey, it's only a 3X creature!"
"You're mistaken, Mr. Malfoy." Hagrid had somehow walked over without them noticing. Hearing their conversation, he turned to the others. "Every magical creature has its own charm. The Ministry's classification is a danger rating, not a rating of the creature itself."
