The Emerald Lightning Sphere in Voldemort's hand shot out in an instant. It swelled rapidly in midair, growing larger and larger until it became a massive ball of lightning.

Green lightning surged and leaped, like a razor-sharp knife.

It crackled through the air with a harsh, tearing sound. The strange electrical noise made everyone nearby feel a soul-deep chill, as though their souls had encountered a natural enemy. Goosebumps rose all over their skin.

It was the Killing Curse. It was the Cruciatus Curse. It even carried the distinctive flavor of a Horcrux.
