Anton survives Voldemort’s attempt to take his body and begins studying souls while pursuing new transformations and building a team at Weasley Cottage. The arc leaves him secretly preparing to thwart Voldemort as Quirrell’s possession grows more painful.

• Anton used a Patronus to identify a Demiguise, but Quirrell attacked him in the Forbidden Forest and Voldemort took control of Quirrell’s body.
• Voldemort tried to recruit Anton, then revealed he planned to be reborn in Anton’s body, but Anton escaped detection by transforming into a Color-Changing Windbird and negotiated with him instead.
• Dumbledore severed the Black Threads linking Anton to his twin’s soul, and Anton later learned that Voldemort had strengthened his soul to prepare it for possession.

After the school year ended, Anton trained in Apparition and returned home to tell Lupin and Ilsa that Voldemort was still alive and Harry needed protection.

• Anton experimented with Mandrake threads and designed an Animagus ritual, while Snape helped him devise a potion intended to halt werewolf transformations.
• Anton led Fred, George, Neville, and Hannah into the Forbidden Forest, where they fought Runespoors and Neville used the Flesh-Separating Charm to save Hannah.

Anton spent the summer and start of term pursuing his research while helping Lupin begin a new life and investigating Voldemort’s influence on Draco and Lockhart. After Crabbe drank the Fiendfyre Liquid, Anton contained the danger and realized Voldemort’s Confundus Charm had affected him.

• Anton helped Harry celebrate his birthday, gave him a Grunnings share transfer, and later brought the Weasleys Lupin and Ilsa’s wedding invitation.
• Anton prepared Potions for his friends, and Lupin drank his and gained control over his transformations before proposing to Ilsa.
• Anton returned to Hogwarts with Neville, found evidence that Voldemort had Confunded him, and began investigating Draco’s connection to the Diary Horcrux.
• Anton entered Draco’s memories and found the Diary urging him to kill Anton, then severed the Horcrux’s black threads and began experimenting on Voldemort.
• Anton watched Lockhart’s failed lessons and studied the dark green cracks in his Magic Image, while his friends explored a stormy corridor they believed led to Hufflepuff’s Chamber.
• Crabbe drank Draco’s Fiendfyre Liquid, and Anton petrified him until Snape extinguished the flames and took him to the Hospital Wing.

Anton battled Tom Riddle and the Basilisk, then worked to restore Snape and understand his own magic while Hogwarts suffered a wave of petrifications. As Dumbledore’s plans and Lockhart’s secret pulled him toward new dangers, Anton ended the stretch with a strange warmth in his palm.

• Anton repaired the cracked Horcrux in his mind and told Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Snape what he had learned about Horcruxes.

• Anton learned that Snape’s past had been altered and needed his help, while students suspected Anton of being the Heir of Slytherin.
• Anton trained Neville and Hannah in the Snake Pit, investigated the Basilisk’s connection to the rooster’s crow, and studied his magical talents with McGonagall.
