Ningjiang City and its eight subordinate counties had sixty-seven high schools, twenty-seven of them in Ningjiang City itself, both public and private.
East City District had five: Second Middle School, No. 7 Middle School, No. 10 Middle School, No. 14 Middle School, and Wuyu Middle School.
In last year's District Martial Arts Competition, No. 14 Middle School ranked second in East City District.
Their main competitors were Fu Chuxue and Xiang Feipeng, along with a third-year student at the time. That student had graduated and gone on to a Key Martial Arts University this year, so Yang Jie had taken his place.

Ningjiang Second Middle School had three main competitors. The first-ranked was Deng Zihao, a third-year student at the Fourth Dragon Gate who followed the Qi Meridian Gate route. His breath was long and steady, he excelled in endurance, usually won by wearing down his opponents, and was skilled at evasion.
The second and third-ranked competitors were not purely on the breakthrough route either.
The other high schools were much the same. Only one followed a One Pass route; the rest were either halfway through a breakthrough or had Qi and blood surging at the Fifth or Six Dragon Gate.
Without Fu Chuxue, No. 14 Middle School would actually have been much the same as them.
But Wuyu Middle School was different.
All three of its main competitors followed the breakthrough route.
The first was Hua Zihang, a Six Dragon Gate martial artist who practiced the Army Breaker Gate and Divine Movement Gate.
The second and third both followed One Pass routes and were both Fifth Dragon Gate martial artists.
