After discovering that Yu Xiaogang had copied his theories, Luo Ling rejected the chance to become his disciple and later followed Zhang Lang into a forest, where he was ambushed. Zhang Lang fatally wounded Luo Ling, whose hatred awakened a strange red glow in his eyes and in his Scarecrow Martial Soul.

• Luo Ling recalled Yu Xiaogang admitting that his theories came from Spirit Hall Library records and decided not to become his disciple.
• Wang Sheng told Luo Ling that he did not need Yu Xiaogang as a teacher, since Luo Ling was already a One-Ring Soul Master.
