Background / History

Seele grew up at Cocolia's orphanage alongside Bronya, Ishiu, Rosaliya, and Liliya. Before the main events, she was kidnapped and rescued by Bronya, who defeated the kidnappers alone while Ishiu carried Seele away. 2

She is deeply attached to Bronya and is devastated when Bronya is hospitalized after being pushed down the stairs. During Ishiu's confrontation with An, Seele refuses to leave his side despite the danger and tries to tend to his wound. 4 5

After awakening a natural Stigmata, Seele volunteers to replace Bronya in the X-10 experiment, believing Bronya should not have to risk herself for everyone else. Although Cocolia warns that Seele's Honkai adaptability is lower than Bronya's, Seele remains resolute. 6 7 The experiment fails catastrophically: Seele becomes surrounded by an energy barrier and begins phasing between physical and phantom states as the Sea of Quantum draws her in. Ishiu enters the laboratory and ultimately risks himself to bring her toward the Sea's border. 8 9 10

Seele survives, but the failed experiment leaves her subject to unpredictable quantum displacements. Cocolia later explains that Seele can vanish while eating, sleeping, or speaking, becoming stranded alone between worlds; Cocolia's pursuit of a Herrscher core is motivated in part by finding a way to restore Seele's normal life. 37 41

Her continued attachment to Ishiu gradually becomes romantic. Though initially too timid to express it directly, she becomes increasingly determined to pursue what she wants, eventually confessing that she loves him as a future bride rather than merely as an older brother. Ishiu acknowledges her feelings but says that he still sees her as a younger sister. 207 209

Appearance

Seele is distinguished by her sapphire-blue eyes and a gentle, delicate presentation. Her quantum instability can cause her body to flicker, become translucent, or disappear entirely. 8 41

Despite her timidity, Seele can become exceptionally determined once she makes a decision. Her experiences with the Sea of Quantum and her feelings for Ishiu gradually make her more willing to state what she wants, though she still refuses to embrace Black Seele's most selfish or extreme reasoning. 205 209

Black Seele is far more assertive, provocative, and calculating. She repeatedly pushes Seele to stop being passive about Ishiu, presenting herself as Seele's staunchest supporter while also manipulating Seele's fears and desires. 154 205 Black Seele describes their bond as inseparable: they are distinct individuals, yet share a life-and-death connection. 154
