Background

Zhu Zhuqing is the second daughter of Zhu Youzhi, patriarch of the Zhu Family, the sole ducal family of the Star Luo Empire. The Zhu Family possesses the inherited Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul and has intermarried with the imperial Dai family for generations because their martial souls can form the Hell White Tiger fusion skill. Zhuqing was therefore engaged to Second Prince Dai Mubai, whom she regarded as a philandering man she did not wish to marry. 38

Raised in a repressive environment, Zhuqing developed a cold, solitary disposition and learned to be highly cautious around others. At eight, she was assigned to secretly meet and escort Jin Lingfeng into Star Luo City while her father negotiated a possible alliance with Martial Soul Hall. She hoped that the Zhu Family’s cooperation would eventually free her from the engagement. 38 39

When the Star Luo royal family discovered the meeting, Zhuqing and her father were threatened with arrest. Jin Lingfeng publicly claimed he had come to visit Zhuqing after supposedly rescuing her in the Star Dou Great Forest, then invoked the support of Yue Guan and Gui Mei to protect the Zhu Family. His refusal to let the elders harm her caused Zhuqing’s hostility toward him to fade. 40 41

Jin Lingfeng later wagered that Zhuqing’s engagement would be annulled if he defeated a Level 59 Soul King. His acceptance of the dangerous challenge deeply moved her, and the engagement was subsequently dissolved. Though Jin Lingfeng stated that he had acted to facilitate cooperation between Martial Soul Hall and the Zhu Family, Zhuqing came to believe his actions were motivated by affection. 42 43 48

Dai Mubai later confronted Zhuqing at the Zhu residence, attempted to strike her, and tried to kill her after Jin Lingfeng intervened. Jin Lingfeng killed Dai Mubai and promised to protect both Zhuqing and her family from the Star Luo Emperor’s retaliation, further strengthening her dependence and affection. 45 46

Zhuqing eventually confessed to Jin Lingfeng and asked to be with him. He rejected her, explaining that he loved Qian Renxue and had only considered Zhuqing a friend. After initially refusing to give up, Zhuqing ultimately accepted the rejection, silently blessed Jin Lingfeng and Qian Renxue’s future marriage, and reconciled with her elder sister. 48 49 50

Zhu Zhuqing is a tall, slender young woman with dark eyes, pale skin, and a naturally striking figure. Her usual expression is cool and vigilant, though she begins smiling more after her engagement is annulled. 38 39 43

Her reserve stems from her upbringing and unwanted political engagement. Freedom from Dai Mubai becomes her foremost wish, and Jin Lingfeng’s willingness to challenge the imperial family for her gives her a sense of security she had rarely experienced. 38 42 47

Once she falls in love, Zhuqing becomes shy and emotionally direct despite her normally restrained nature. Her rejection leaves her devastated, and she briefly refuses to relinquish hope; however, she later demonstrates maturity by accepting Jin Lingfeng’s choice, wishing him happiness, and repairing her relationship with Zhu Zhuyun. 48 49 50
