"Arcee, clear us a path!"
Facing the surging mass of Lizardmen, Merlin showed no fear whatsoever and twisted the throttle all the way down.
"Click!" The Railgun launcher popped out from Arcee's side again. Electromagnetic arcs flickered within the barrel as it began charging.
The instant the energy reached its critical point, an electromagnetic blast shot out.
"Beep!" A flash of white light swept past, instantly vaporizing the Lizardmen blocking the way and clearing a passage. Faint electric arcs still crackled in the air.
"Roar!!!" The Lizardmen caught in the blast howled in agony. Some had their arms grazed and melted on the spot; others had half their bodies sheared away. The unluckiest were reduced to nothing but scattered limbs.
Wherever the Railgun passed, severed limbs and mangled remains littered the ground.
Merlin lowered his body and drove Arcee into the opening.
But just as he was about to break through, the Lizardmen on the outskirts surged shut again like a tide and pounced toward Merlin.
Merlin pressed down slightly with the foot on the pedal. Beneath him, Arcee tilted her rear with perfect timing and flung him into the air.
"Vroom!" The engine roared. The instant she threw Merlin upward, Arcee transformed into her humanoid form, bracing both hands against the ground as the wheels on her legs spun in a whirlwind twist.
Bang bang bang!!!
A circular afterimage flashed past. Amid a series of heavy impacts, the closing Lizardmen were instantly sent flying backward.
After driving the enemies back, Arcee landed and transformed into motorcycle form again, accelerating forward to catch Merlin before he hit the ground.
The entire sequence flowed as smoothly as if they had practiced it countless times.
"Excellent teamwork!" Merlin praised as he climbed back onto Arcee after breaking through the Lizardmen's blockade.
