John's lips gradually tightened as he watched the man step out of the fireplace, and his breathing grew shallow. His hands seemed superfluous; wherever he put them, he felt he could not properly convey his respect!
There was no doubt that this elegantly and impeccably dressed gentleman was a man of distinction.
John had worked in the Greengrass Family's broom workshop for seven years and had seen quite a few "important people" in his day.
Besides the foreigners who came to inspect the workshop and place orders, he had met Ministry of Magic tax officials, the young masters and ladies under the Greengrass Family, and even Mr. Greengrass himself several times!
But John had to say that although the important people he had met before also wore finely tailored clothes, none could compare to the refined gentleman before him in sheer bearing!
"I believe you must be Mr. John Cena?"
The middle-aged gentleman's slightly hoarse voice was deeply magnetic.
But what delighted John even more was that such a gentleman had actually called him "Mr."!
"I am. Oh, no, I'm not... I mean, you can... you can just call me John, sir!"
John's heart pounded furiously, and his cheeks flushed bright red!
"Ah, John. I hope my visit has not troubled you, but the two Shire brothers said you were trustworthy, so..."
John puffed out his chest, his voice rising with conviction.
"Of course, Mr. Angris. I am utterly loyal to our cause!"
"I have every faith in you, John—"
The man called Angris removed his top hat and extended a hand to shake John's. Overjoyed, John failed to notice the flicker of mockery in Angris's eyes behind his spectacles.
Angris looked around John's house with great interest. He could easily tell that it had just undergone a thorough cleaning.
