As the experiments deepened, Su Hao gained a preliminary understanding of the "system" that could convert matter into Source.
Put simply, it was "motion"! This world was bound to contain some special mode of motion that happened to satisfy the conditions for converting matter into Source.
What Su Hao needed to do was find that mode of motion.
More precisely, he needed to find the principles behind the changes matter underwent during that motion, then analyze those principles.
That mode of motion was merely a means of achieving the goal.
A Rune formed at Su Hao's fingertips, releasing a pale violet beam that shone upon the Octopus. Moments later, the Octopus's body went limp, like a lump of rotten mud.
He picked up one tentacle and gave it a few shakes, only to find that the Octopus was as still as if it were dead.
It was not actually dead. It still retained faint vital signs, and Su Hao could awaken it at any time. Su Hao called this state "Suspended Animation"; its bodily motor functions had almost completely ceased.
In this state, it would take only one day for the Octopus to sever its connection with the "system."
And what Su Hao wanted to observe was how the Octopus changed after that connection was severed.
Two days later, the Octopus died!
Su Hao said, "What a waste of a Source Beast!"
While Su Hao was trying to summarize the patterns of internal motion in Source Beast bodies, he received a message from Ashan. "Boss Wei! I've locked onto the Spiritual Frequency Band that guides Source!"
This was an expected surprise. Su Hao cast aside his work and appeared beside Ashan with Flash Step. "How is it?"
Ashan was beaming. "I locked onto an open interval in a Spiritual
