Ch. 522Better to Enjoy Life While You Can

Su Hao absorbed the Source Pearl and proved far more skilled in close combat than A Xing and A Wang expected. The Yang Star Gazing Squad took him on his first mission, and the chapter ended as he asked how they would find the Core behind the Heng Lian Mountain lava disaster.

  • Su Hao tested his enhanced body and defeated A Xing, then beat both A Xing and A Wang in close combat.
  • A Xing and A Wang decided to bring Su Hao on difficult missions, and three days later they chose the Lava of Heng Lian Mountain mission.
  • A Xing and A Wang explained that the Natural Disaster had gone unattended because such missions offered little reward and Source Squads could not handle every incident.
  • The three traveled for a day to Heng Lian Mountain and saw the vast area engulfed in flames, smoke, and ash.
  • A Xing explained that they needed to locate and destroy the disaster's Core, and Su Hao asked what that meant.

Ch. 523Natural Disaster

Su Hao, A Xing, and A Wang examined a vast Lava disaster while A Xing explained how disaster Cores, Guides, and Source worked. A Wang began searching the molten mountain for its Core, but had not found it yet.

  • Su Hao asked A Xing and A Wang about the Lava disaster, and A Xing explained that disasters could spread and that each one had a Core made of Source and a Guide.
  • A Xing demonstrated how Source became part of a Core when a Source Mage used it, and Su Hao concluded that Natural Disasters released Source uncontrollably.
  • A Xing said that destroying a Core's Guide would leave its Source, but warned that mistaking the Source for the Guide would destroy the whole Core.
  • A Xing asked A Wang to scan the molten mountain, and A Wang poured out Detection Balls that A Xing sent into the Lava.
  • A Wang admitted he had been distracted and began searching for the Core.

Ch. 524Pure and Naive

Su Hao used Little Light to calculate the Lava disaster’s point of origin, allowing A Xing and A Wang to uncover its Core: a black ceramic jar. After A Xing explained how to end the disaster, Su Hao proposed which part of the jar might be the Guide, leaving the two Source Mages surprised by his perception.

  • A Xing and A Wang searched the Lava for the Core but found nothing, then proposed resting and continuing their investigation the next day.
  • Su Hao explained that he could estimate the Lava’s point of origin and ordered Little Light to calculate three likely locations.
  • A Xing and A Wang investigated the first location and uncovered a black ceramic jar whose fluctuations confirmed it was the Core.
  • A Xing explained that they needed to distinguish the Source from the Guide and destroy the Guide before taking the Source.
  • Su Hao suggested that the jar’s mouth was the Guide and the jar itself was the Source, while A Xing and A Wang wondered why they could not sense the fluctuations he detected.

Ch. 525One Slash 999

Su Hao joined A Xing and A Wang on a mission to identify and destroy a Guide, helping them locate a jar that contained a Mud Doll and recover Source Pearls. Afterward, A Xing planned a Source Beast Disaster mission in five days and proposed taking the team to an Anomaly Disaster next.

  • Su Hao asked A Xing and A Wang how they distinguished a Source from a Guide, and they explained that they relied on intuition.
  • A Xing identified the jar as the Guide and used Qi to cut it open without smashing it.
  • The Mud Doll inside the jar collapsed into twenty-three Source Pearls, completing the mission and calming the Lava.
  • A Xing and A Wang divided the Source Pearls with Su Hao, giving him seven while keeping two as payment for bringing him along.
  • A Xing scheduled a Source Beast Disaster mission for five days later and proposed that the team tackle an Anomaly Disaster after that.
  • A Xing vowed to bring Su Hao and A Wang through the Anomaly Disaster alive, and Su Hao teased him about his old dream of finding a cute young girl teammate.

Ch. 526Tools of Research

After returning from their first mission, Su Hao planned how to investigate the mysteries of Source, deciding he first needed to cultivate Divine Intent and gather knowledge about the world. He assigned Ashan and Feng Cheng to restore production of spirit power Pills and set out a long-term research plan, then remembered to arrange food for Big Dog.

  • Su Hao examined seven Source Pearls and concluded that Marble Space could not record Source, making it difficult to research.
  • Su Hao decided to cultivate Divine Intent as a tool for studying Source and ordered Ashan and Feng Cheng to resume mass-producing spirit power Pills.
  • Ashan explained that they needed to cultivate Transgenic Spirit Herbs before producing the Pills, and Su Hao told them to select suitable carriers.
  • Su Hao planned to investigate disasters, gain access to the world's deeper Source knowledge, join its core organizations, and eventually explore other planets.
  • Su Hao noticed Big Dog was hungry, asked Feng Cheng to make extra dog food, and sent Big Dog to fetch his clothes in exchange for a meal.

Ch. 527Flying Vehicle

Su Hao helped Ashan and Feng Cheng prepare to evolve into Life Children, then joined A Xing and A Wang on a mission to hunt a thunderous Source Beast near Xilan Village. To avoid the long journey on foot, he built a crude flying vehicle with his teammates and successfully launched it toward the mission site.

  • Su Hao agreed that Ashan and Feng Cheng would evolve into Life Children, and Ashan showed him six candidate Spirit Herb varieties.
  • Su Hao spent three days designing their evolution Genes and cultivating Spirit Herbs before returning to Huai Shui Town.
  • A Xing recruited Su Hao and A Wang for the Thunder of Xilan Village mission, where a suspected Thunder Source Beast had destroyed a Source Squad and attacked villagers.
  • When the team set out on foot, Su Hao proposed building a flying vehicle, and A Wang produced its wings while A Xing used his air abilities to lift it.
  • Su Hao powered the crude vehicle with repeated bursts from Little Cannon, and it accelerated through the air as A Xing and A Wang marveled at its flight.

Ch. 528No Need for Such Trouble

Su Hao, A Xing, and A Wang tracked the Thunder Source Beast to a mountain in West Orchid Manor, where Su Hao killed it instantly with his new Fixed Point Detonation spell. A Xing and A Wang followed Su Hao down to inspect the corpse, still shocked by his ability, and A Xing asked whether the spell was accurate.

  • Su Hao, A Xing, and A Wang gathered information from nearby villages and learned that the Source Beast was in the mountains northwest of West Orchid Manor.
  • A Wang gave Su Hao and A Xing Insulating Protective Suits, and the trio entered the mountains while A Xing and A Wang deployed Detection Balls.
  • Su Hao sensed a Source Beast from ten thousand meters away and led A Xing and A Wang to a giant electric bird sleeping on a boulder.
  • A Xing and A Wang discussed ways to attack the bird, but Su Hao used Fixed Point Detonation to blow off its head before it could react.
  • Su Hao headed down to inspect the dead bird, and A Xing and A Wang followed as A Xing asked whether Fixed Point Detonation was accurate.

Ch. 529Weeping Willow Mountain Anomaly Incident

Su Hao prepared for an Anomaly Disaster mission while continuing his experiments and helping Ashan and Feng Cheng evolve. He joined A Xing and A Wang at Huai Shui Town’s east gate, and the team set out to investigate the Weeping Willow Mountain Anomaly Incident.

  • Su Hao returned to Huai Shui Town with fifty-two Source Pearls and treated A Xing and A Wang to a meal, where A Xing warned that their next mission would be an Anomaly Disaster.
  • Su Hao completed Gene Modification Fluids for Ashan and Feng Cheng, and both successfully evolved into Shen Armor People.
  • Su Hao assigned Ashan to care for Big Dog and continued experimenting with Source Pearls at the Temporary Experiment Base.
  • Su Hao found a note telling him to meet his teammates for the mission, then met A Xing and A Wang at the east gate the next morning.
  • A Xing led the team out of Huai Shui Town and revealed that their mission concerned the Weeping Willow Mountain Anomaly Incident.

Ch. 530Nowhere to Hide

Su Hao, A Xing, and A Wang traveled to Weeping Willow Town to join the effort against an Anomaly Disaster called “Nowhere to Hide,” learning that many squads were competing to resolve it. At the Association Hall, they unexpectedly encountered Little Candy, and A Wang nervously went to greet the girl he secretly liked.

  • A Xing explained that Anomaly Disasters attracted many squads because they were dangerous, difficult to resolve, and offered great rewards and prestige.
  • Su Hao, A Xing, and A Wang built a crude flying craft and reached Weeping Willow Town in less than a day.
  • Su Hao heard townspeople discuss the anomaly, its name, and the deaths associated with the willow grove.
  • A Xing decided to seek information at the Association Hall, where A Wang spotted Little Candy among the crowd.
  • A Xing pushed A Wang toward Little Candy, and A Wang greeted her awkwardly.

Ch. 531Wow, That's Badass!

A Xing, A Wang, and Su Hao prepared to investigate the expanding Anomaly Disaster at Weeping Willow Mountain, which A Xing classified as intermediate and exceptionally dangerous. Despite learning that more than twenty squads had failed to return, all three chose to enter the disaster the next day.

  • Little Candy recognized Su Hao and accused him of being a coward, but A Xing and A Wang explained that he had been an ordinary person during the Huai Shui Town attack.
  • A Xing and Bi Qi exchanged information about the disaster after Jiang Ji rejected A Xing’s offer to team up their squads.
  • A Xing told Su Hao and A Wang that the Anomaly Disaster had spread across thirty thousand meters and could grow into an advanced disaster.
  • A Xing revealed that more than twenty squads had failed to return from Weeping Willow Mountain and that two survivors had later died with their organs missing and no visible wounds.
  • A Xing, Su Hao, and A Wang voted to participate and planned to enter Weeping Willow Mountain after registering the next day.

Ch. 532Everyone Hide

A Xing led A Wang and Su Hao into the intermediate No Escape Anomaly Disaster at Weeping Willow Mountain, despite the danger and warnings. After they entered its distorted willow world, Su Hao investigated the strange perception shift while A Xing sent decoys ahead, and an eerie nursery rhyme drew near.

  • A Xing chose to proceed with the mission after A Wang and Su Hao showed no desire to retreat, and promised to get them out safely.
  • The registration clerk warned the Yang Star Gazing Squad that many stronger squads had vanished in Weeping Willow Mountain, but A Xing completed the paperwork anyway.
  • A Xing explained that they needed to discover No Escape's lethal triggering conditions and destroy its Core, then led the squad into the anomalous zone.
  • The three found themselves surrounded by dense willow trees with no visible way back, while Su Hao suspected a Force Field had altered their perception.
  • A Xing had A Wang create three Decoy Balloons to scout ahead, and the squad followed them as a disturbing nursery rhyme approached.

Ch. 533Hurry Up and Hold On to It

Su Hao, A Xing, and A Wang entered Willow Grove and encountered an Anomaly that made organs and other body parts sprout limbs and run away. After realizing the grove distorted their perceptions, Su Hao used his abilities to return a Source Mage’s fleeing heart, leaving the man holding it while other organs remained loose.

  • A Xing and A Wang froze as organs with tiny limbs hopped past the three Balloon Dummies, and Su Hao realized the Anomaly could threaten his life.
  • Su Hao checked that he could Teleport to safety, then compared his perceptions with the information in Marble Space and concluded the Anomaly was distorting what they saw and heard.
  • The three moved deeper into Willow Grove to search for the missing Source Squad and found a disheveled Source Mage from the Honggao Squad whose organs were running away.
  • The man’s heart and a strip of muscle fled from his body, and Su Hao teleported the heart back beside him.
  • The Source Mage caught his heart in his left hand as it struggled and cried out.

Ch. 534This Isn't Scientific

Su Hao and his companions investigated the Willow Grove’s organ-running Anomaly and discovered that willow branches and other long objects could trigger it when they struck someone. As night fell, Su Hao tested ways to counter the grove and cut down a swath of trees, while the danger of his destructive approach remained uncertain.

  • Su Hao concluded that the Honggao Squad mage’s organs had escaped after willow branches struck him, then tested the theory by sending a Yellow Rat into the branches and watching its organs run away.
  • Su Hao warned A Xing and A Wang that the organs escaped in sequence and that vines, weeds, and other long objects might also trigger the disaster.
  • Su Hao found that an Opposing Space Barrier protected against the branches, while shields, mud, and A Xing’s Gel Binding Technique did not prevent the effect.
  • As night fell, Su Hao tried burning the willow trees, but the flames shook themselves off and went out.
  • Su Hao used Miniature—Sword of Dawn to cut down a fan-shaped swath of willow trees, leaving A Xing and A Wang stunned.

Ch. 535You Have Changed

Su Hao tested the Willow Grove disaster, learned that destroying its trees did not stop it, and led A Xing and A Wang toward its Core. They found Little Candy and her teammates in danger, with Bi Qi revealing that Jiang Ji had already lost vital organs and that his own heart and lungs were still intact.

  • Su Hao cut down the willow trees and blasted a wide pit, but new trees grew back and a Yellow Rat still triggered the disaster.
  • Su Hao concluded that the willow trees were only vessels for the disaster and that they had to find and destroy its Core.
  • A Xing identified the likely direction of the Core by watching where the new willow trees grew fastest, and the group followed him through the violent grove.
  • Su Hao cleared a path toward Little Candy, where they found Bi Qi and Jiang Ji struggling against the disaster.
  • Bi Qi shielded Little Candy and told A Xing that Jiang Ji had lost what belonged to him, while his own heart and lungs were still in place.

Ch. 536Why Aren't You Taking Shelter?

Su Hao and the Yang Star Gazing Squad survived the rain’s deadly anomalous effect by sheltering inside his Opposing Space Shield. As they waited for the storm to pass, a ragged child appeared from the rain and asked why they were not taking shelter.

  • Jiang Ji and Bi Qi lost their organs to the Weeping Willow Grove anomaly, and Bi Qi asked A Xing to take Little Candy away before he died.
  • Su Hao’s group heard a nursery rhyme warning of rain, and A Xing raised an Air Shield before the torrential downpour began.
  • Su Hao tested the rain’s effect with a Yellow Rat and learned that it made the rat’s body parts flee.
  • As the rain destroyed their Air Shields, umbrellas, and Little Candy’s Stone Umbrella, Su Hao protected everyone with his Opposing Space Shield.
  • The group waited out the rain while clearing willow trees, and A Xing resolved to find the Anomaly Disaster’s Core when the storm stopped.
  • A ragged child emerged from the rain, stared at the group, and asked why they were not taking shelter.

Ch. 537Auntie Monster

Su Hao and the others confronted the Auntie Monster and discovered that the child was the disaster’s Source while the whip’s handle was its Guide. After Su Hao destroyed the handle, the disaster ended, leaving Source Pearls and an ordinary willow twig behind.

  • A wounded child warned Su Hao and the others to hide from the rain as the Auntie Monster appeared and whipped him.
  • A Xing identified the Auntie Monster as a possible Core, and Su Hao sensed Source fluctuations coming from the child.
  • The Auntie Monster attacked, but its whip could not reach the group through Su Hao’s barrier, and Su Hao blasted the monster apart.
  • Su Hao realized the whip was the Guide and destroyed its handle with a stronger Little Cannon.
  • The rain and wind stopped, the child vanished into a pile of Source Pearls, and A Xing said they had resolved the Anomaly Disaster.

Ch. 538He Had Always Been Lonely

After the Anomaly Disaster ended, A Xing’s squad was rescued and celebrated for surviving and defeating it. At the banquet, Su Hao reflected on his solitude while A Xing apologized for leading him into danger and asked whether he was too reckless.

  • A Xing collected the Source Pearls and warned Su Hao and A Wang not to touch the willow twig, which they believed was the disaster’s Source Artifact.
  • A Wang sat beside the grieving Little Candy as the Source Mage Association’s rescue team arrived and learned that the four were the only survivors among seventy-six victims.
  • A Xing recounted how the squad had ended the disaster, crediting luck and concealing Su Hao’s Opposing Space Barrier ability.
  • Ting Zuo’s team confirmed the willow twig was a Source Artifact, packed it safely away, and honored the dead before inviting the survivors to a banquet.
  • Su Hao avoided the festivities and reflected on his loneliness, then told A Xing that being willful could be a kind of freedom after A Xing apologized and questioned his recklessness.

Ch. 539Earn Money Through My Own Efforts

After returning from the anomaly disaster, Su Hao told Ashan and Feng Cheng to keep a low profile and develop spirit medicine production, then went to the Association to exchange his Source Pearls for money. The chapter left him waiting for Gulan to calculate their value.

  • Su Hao and the others returned to Huai Shui Town, where A Xing granted the squad a month of rest and assigned the surviving members their mission rewards.
  • Su Hao showed Ashan and Feng Cheng a recording of the anomaly disaster, and they agreed that its powers were frighteningly dangerous.
  • Su Hao told Ashan to teach Feng Cheng Teleportation and asked Ashan to design machine parts that could be manufactured for their spirit medicine project.
  • Su Hao took Big Dog back to town and went to the Association to exchange Source Pearls for money.
  • Gulan recognized Su Hao as a celebrated Mage hero and agreed to exchange the Source Pearls for him.

Ch. 540Brazen Beyond Measure

Su Hao visited President Guyin to ask about the Anomaly Disaster and borrow books, then asked her for help finding a factory to build his pill-making machine. He left with books and a letter of introduction, learning that his squad’s pending reward would not be enough to cover the machinery.

  • Gulan exchanged Su Hao’s Source Pearls for vouchers, and Su Hao left her a tip before asking to see Guyin.
  • Guyin warned Su Hao against joining another Anomaly Disaster before becoming an intermediate Mage and advised him to take safer missions.
  • Su Hao asked Guyin about his questions and borrowed the books in her study after joking that he wanted the entire Library of New Era City.
  • Su Hao asked where to have his large pill-making machine built, and Guyin gave him a sealed letter of introduction to a capable factory.
  • Guyin told Su Hao that his squad’s pending payment would give him around two million yuan, but that would still be far short of the cost of custom machinery.

Ch. 541Making Big Money Through Work?

Su Hao learned that the custom machinery he wanted would cost tens of millions, then negotiated a deal to provide the materials and have Evergreen Factory build it for one million Union Yuan. He left with plans to introduce Ashan to the factory and have him supervise production.

  • Su Hao visited Lakechang Evergreen Factory with a letter of introduction and submitted Ashan's machinery designs for a quote.
  • Old Ying praised the designs and offered to build the equipment for free in exchange for meeting their designer, while Old Hu objected to the cost.
  • Su Hao agreed to provide the materials and pay one million Union Yuan, and promised to introduce the designer, Jia Ashan, to Old Ying.
  • Su Hao realized that ordinary work would not make him rich and decided he would need to form a team to earn larger rewards.
  • Su Hao told Ashan that he had found him a temporary job supervising the factory assembly line, and Ashan wondered if he was being sent to work as a laborer.
