Having settled the Kingdom of Dalmatia, Yugoslavia's pressure was instantly eased by quite a bit. This meant Yugoslavia could devote its effective military resources elsewhere, especially toward Germany and Bulgaria.
However, communications with France and the Soviet Union did not go particularly smoothly afterward, especially as France began wavering in its attitude toward Yugoslavia.
February 3, 1938, Paris, France.
At this moment, Prime Minister of France Blum was discussing the matter with his subordinates, his heart heavy with worry.
"The Spanish Civil War is about to end. The military government represented by Franco will seize complete control of Spain. It is foreseeable that, as Spain falls wholly into Germany's camp, France's situation will become increasingly difficult."
"How does everyone view the request sent by Yugoslavia?"
"If we do nothing, Yugoslavia may become a second Spain, further strengthening Germany's advantage in Europe. At that point, all of Europe will truly become a stage where Germany stands alone above all others!"
As Blum finished speaking, Foreign Minister Boncour rose indignantly.
"Prime Minister, and everyone present! I said long ago that the Germans' wolfish ambitions would never be satisfied."
"The collapse of the situation in Spain was a tremendous failure of our government's diplomacy."
"If we had supported the Spanish Republican Government, Spain would most likely have become our staunchest ally against Germany in the future."
"Even if we could not achieve that, it could at least have provided us with a stable rear. But the changes in Spain have left us completely caught in the middle, attacked from both front and rear by the extremist nationalist camp led by Germany."
As a hardliner, Minister Boncour was immensely dissatisfied with France's current state. Especially now that Franco's government had gained a complete advantage and Spain was about to change colors, that dissatisfaction had
