In the morning, the coronation ceremony officially began. After the rites had been simplified, East Africa's coronation proved rather perfunctory. After all, Constantin was too old, and neither Constantin nor Ernst wanted the procedures to become overly complicated.
As the East Africa National Anthem played, Constantin sat upright upon the temporary imperial throne erected in Rhine Palace while the herald below read aloud:
"On May 1, 1900, our Emperor Constantin the Great established an empire unprecedented in the history of Africa. This achievement shall be recorded in the annals of history, founding a great undertaking to endure for ten thousand generations. God has bestowed upon the Kingdom of Hechingen the newly risen Rhine Empire, and His Majesty Constantin shall be the Emperor of the new empire..."
After the lengthy proclamation extolling the great achievements of the Rhine Empire and Constantin, Constantin personally placed the crown upon his own head.
East Africa's coronation ceremony opened the eyes of those present, especially the diplomatic personnel from European nations. No wonder no heads of state from other countries had been invited—it was simply too untraditional, or rather, wildly unorthodox.
Even East Africa's religious forces were puppets of the Hechingen Royal Family. They played no role in the coronation ceremony and merely served as spectators.
Naturally, it was easier for Zhang Heng, the Far East Empire ambassador, and the other non-European diplomats to understand. None of them believed in Christianity anyway, so no matter how East Africa chose to play around, they felt nothing about it.
"Welcome, everyone, to the founding ceremony of our Rhine Empire and my own imperial coronation ceremony. One of the purposes of this ceremony is frugality, so I hope you will excuse any shortcomings in our hospitality." No matter what, Constantin still produced an excuse to fob everyone off.
