Mwanza.

The only shipbuilding center in the entire Great Lakes Region.

East Africa's resources were limited. With a shortage of technical personnel—that is, skilled shipbuilders—it could only prioritize replicating Mwanza's inland-lake shipbuilding industry on Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi.

Therefore, Mwanza Shipyard's workers had gone ahead to support the construction of shipyards on Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi, rather than building new shipyards at other Great Lakes Region settlements and cities.

These vessels were allocated to villages along the shore for fishing, or incorporated into East Africa's transport teams to carry supplies.

At present, water transport on the Great Lakes had become the most important means of connection between the western and northern parts of the East African colony around the Great Lakes.
