As the white light gradually faded, Obito saw Charmander's drastically changed appearance.

Charmeleon's skin was no longer the orange of its Charmander days, but a deeper fiery red. Its once short limbs had grown larger, longer, and powerfully muscular. Sharp claws had sprouted from its palms, and its mouth had become pointed, like a bird's beak.

What delighted Obito most was the horn-like protrusion that had grown on Charmeleon's head. He thought it looked pretty cool.

"Is that Charmander?" Nohara Rin asked uncertainly.

She had seen Charmander that very morning. Even if it grew quickly, this was too exaggerated. Charmander had previously been around 0.6 meters tall, but Charmeleon now looked to be over a meter tall.

Kakashi could not quite understand what had happened either. This was clearly Obito's Charmander, yet after a flash of white light, it was as though it had secretly grown for two years.

Kakashi looked at Mu Yue with an inquisitive gaze.

Mu Yue had given them these Ninja Beast eggs, so he would most likely know the reason.

"This is evolution," Mu Yue explained.

"Some creatures undergo drastic changes once they reach a certain stage of growth. Caterpillars can form cocoons before turning into butterflies."

"Your Ninja Beasts possess a similar ability. After evolving, they become stronger, and their appearance changes to varying degrees as well."

Kakashi understood, but not entirely.

He knew that insects could form cocoons and become butterflies, but why did a creature like Charmander have something in common with caterpillars?

"So Charmander got stronger?" Obito picked out the key information, his expression turning excited.

Though he did not know exactly what had happened, it felt as though his Charmander had suddenly gained the results of two years of grueling training.

"Yes, you could say that." Mu Yue nodded.
