A simple Earth Release: Mud Wall could not block Might Guy's Day Tiger. Whether he used an offensive move to cancel it out or a defensive Ninjutsu to block it, Kakashi would lose the ability to unleash Musou Isshin after dealing with Day Tiger.
So, Kakashi prepared to pour all his Chakra into the greatest blade strike he had ever unleashed, gambling that it would destroy Day Tiger while catching Might Guy off guard.
If he won the gamble, Kakashi won. If he lost it, Kakashi lost.
If this were a real battle, Kakashi might have hesitated. Losing one's ability to fight on the battlefield was a terrifying prospect.
But this was only a match, and
