I wasn't much for posting standalone updates, and after the paid release, I hadn't posted a single one. But today, I couldn't help saying a few words.
More than one reader had said, "Whoa, you're so expensive. Your chapters cost more than anyone else's, and now they're four times as expensive. Have you gone crazy for money or something...?"
I was afraid some readers might not understand, so let me explain: all books are priced by word count, not by chapter! They aren't priced according to how many Qidian Coins a chapter costs!
Authors don't have the right to set prices! My chapters have four times as many words as other people's, so naturally, they cost four times as much.
My chapters run over eight thousand words, while other people's chapters are two thousand. How could they possibly cost the same?
I could also make every chapter a thousand words. Then I could brag about doing eight updates a day, and readers who didn't know the truth would double-tap 666 and say I was really cheap while they were at it.
But what difference would that make?
Two-thousand-word chapters are popular now; a few years ago, three-thousand-word chapters were the trend. I just don't want to split chapters up. I update however much I can write—big portions, enough to fill you up.
After all, it isn't calculated by how many Qidian Coins each chapter costs.
Also, one more thing. Those of you who have read this far probably already know in your hearts that this isn't some dark novel where the protagonist is selfish and self-serving, chasing profit alone and willing to throw away all bottom lines.
Nor is every character in it willing to pay any price just to seek immortality and attain the Dao.
To be honest, speaking
