Background

Dai Mubai was the second prince of the Star Luo Empire and the bearer of its Evil Eye White Tiger martial soul. From childhood, he was politically engaged to Zhu Zhuqing of the Zhu Clan, whose Netherworld Spirit Cat was meant to complement his martial soul. Their families were bound to Star Luo’s succession system, which forced rival heirs and their partners into life-or-death competition. 78 128

Before Zhu Zhuqing arrived at Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai had abandoned his responsibilities and lived indulgently in Suotuo City. Zhu Zhuqing later described him as violent, unfaithful, and emotionally abusive, while still having come to Shrek in the hope of helping him change his fate. 78

Appearance

In his early Shrek years, Dai Mubai is a tall young man with unruly yellow hair. Activating his Evil Eye White Tiger greatly enlarges his body, covers him in fur, and gives him a wild, muscular appearance. 68

Personality

Dai Mubai is proud, hot-blooded, and highly sensitive to provocation. He immediately reacts with anger when Mad Rhino insults Zhu Zhuqing, and he repeatedly insists on confronting opponents stronger than himself. 28 68

He also presents himself as a protective leader. During the attack on Shrek Academy, he charges toward Tang San despite recognizing that the enemy is far beyond his level, invoking his duties as Shrek’s captain and Tang San’s brother. 61

His attachment to Zhu Zhuqing becomes increasingly unhealthy. Conflict with Luo Chen

After Dai Mubai threatens Ning Rongrong and pursues Zhu Zhuqing aggressively, Luo Chen disguises himself as Tang Hao and attacks him at night. Dai Mubai uses his White Tiger abilities but is overwhelmed, severely injured by a Rasengan, and forced to crawl over to apologize to the girls he bullied. 64 68

Dai Mubai vows revenge against the supposed Clear Sky Douluo without realizing that Luo Chen was his attacker. 76

Zhu Zhuqing’s Rejection

Dai Mubai mistakes Zhu Zhuqing’s occasional attention for renewed affection. In reality, she follows Luo Chen’s plan to give him limited hope while preparing revenge against him and the Star Luo Imperial Family. 33 173

Zhu Zhuqing eventually beats and wounds him directly. Even then, Dai Mubai insists that her violence means she still cares for him. 173

Shrek Attack and Tournament Humiliation

During the attack on Shrek, Dai Mubai is left helpless while Zhu Zhuqing cuts off fingers from his right hand. 176 Luo Chen subsequently restores his confidence with a speech about turning humiliation into motivation, allowing Dai Mubai to remain with Shrek despite his trauma. 184

At the Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Dai Mubai uses White Tiger Vajra Transformation and White Tiger Meteor Shower to defeat Elephant Armor Academy opponents. His damaged hand is exposed before the audience, however, and he is publicly ridiculed as a “three-fingered monster.” 202

Fall from Prince to Beggar

Davis severs Dai Mubai’s right leg during the Elite Competition. Ashamed to return to Star Luo, Dai Mubai wanders alone for four years, eventually obtaining a weak fifth soul ring from a two-thousand-year soul beast. 324

Zhu Zhuqing finds him as a one-legged beggar and further mutilates him, severing his hands and blinding him. She intends to use his condition to abolish the Star Luo succession system and free the Zhu Clan from its political subjugation. 325 326

Collapse of the Dai Family

Dai Mubai refuses to return to Star Luo in disgrace and attempts suicide, but Zhu Zhuqing prevents him from dying and forces his continued captivity. 330 She later kills Dai Jinpo and Zhu Lan, while Davis is killed during Zhu Zhuyun’s failed assassination attempt. 349 357

After Zhu Zhuyun becomes the White Tiger Empress, Dai Mubai realizes that his family has fallen and that Zhu Zhuqing’s plan has succeeded. 358
