Arc 29Loki and the Election
S.H.I.E.L.D. failed to capture Loki after he used duplicates to deceive the Avengers and injured the real Evans, while Wakanda agreed to join He-El’s fight against alien threats. As Loki’s influence turned toward the presidential election, Tony Stark volunteered to run, but He-El learned Vivian had already placed him among the candidates.
- Nick Fury revealed that Loki had infiltrated the government and controlled hundreds of politicians and military generals, then the Avengers lured an apparent Evans into a trap that turned out to be the real vice president.
- Thor and the others saved Evans with help from He-El’s Regeneration Cradle, while S.H.I.E.L.D. discovered Loki had escaped through physical duplicates.
- Vivian threatened to expose Wakanda unless it cooperated with He-El, and T’Chaka agreed to supply Vibranium and troops against alien threats.
- T’Chaka sent T’Challa to join He-El’s S.H.I.E.L.D. special unit, and He-El prepared to combine Vibranium, Uru Metal, and Kinetic Nth Metal for a new body design.
- He-El joined Nick Fury, Tony Stark, T’Challa, and the Avengers to plan against Loki, whose Mind Scepter and political influence made him difficult to stop.
- Nick Fury explained that Loki controlled 230 electoral votes and appeared to be pursuing the presidency, so Natasha proposed a plan to approach Evans through an elector.
- Tony Stark volunteered to run for president, but He-El declined to take the office himself.
- Nick Fury revealed that He-El had a 95% approval rating and was already among the presidential candidates, while Vivian said she had formed the Civilization Party to back his campaign.
